I think the point is, and I never thought about it until this post
In the event of crash - will the wire (slow down) or (Block) the Side Curtain Airbag from Deploying
If routed in front of the airbag and you have the wire secured tightly - (Yes) would be the answer

Side Airbag Locations.webp
The wire doesn't have to be tucked all the way inside the A pillar. I tucked mine just inside the plastic (unseen) at the edge and it held up like that for 4 years. Besides the force of the air bag would blow right past a loosely tucked wire with ease.

Right from Blackboxmycar:

Is it safe to run my dash cam wirings over my airbags?

While airbags may be sensitive, running wires behind them is completely safe. The airbags will continue to function normally upon dash cam installation, and the cables have no impact on their safety performance. The only thing to make sure of is that your wires are tucked in behind your airbags, so if the airbags do get deployed, your wire doesn't come out with it.
In fact, for installations done at BlackboxMyCar, our professional installers usually remove the A-pillar trim, exposing the airbag and other wiring behind the A-pillar.
Most vehicles already have some wiring going up the A-pillar, such as wires to the dome lights, vanity mirror lights, and so on, so it is safe to run your dash cam's wire along these other wires. If you want to make sure that the wires do not interfere with the airbags, you can secure the wire with cable ties or electrical tape as well.

Hope I never find out, but does the whatever particular trim piece that's hiding the whatever particular air bag just get yeeted off indiscriminately? Even if , better than the alternative I guess ?, just curious ?...

This is kind of embarrassing, but I just had my first accident and side airbag deployment. The airbags were way more violent than the accident. Extremely dark night, no street lights ‘cause we’re in Tucson, I turned out of our cul-de-sac, and within two car lengths, BOOM!

I was only up to 12 mph, but apparently my right front tire (FWD) drove up on top of this parked Mini’s left rear tire. Because the XT6 was tilted beyond some limit, the side curtains fired. It was like a bomb went off in the car. $19,000 in damage to the XT6, only a few hundred to the Mini.

There is one bag on each side from front to rear. $850 for each bag and $1450 for a new headliner. The rest of the massive costs was suspension parts and sensors, even the front seatbelt retractors fired. The fender was only $450.

This is the fourth time the right front has had damage on this lease. It was originally a dealer loaner and it hit a curb, my wife bumped the garage door (just a scrape), last month a woman backed into it in a parking lot, and then I do this. I think this freaking thing is cursed.

No, luckily for me, USAA is paying for the repairs. They said it would cost them $30k to total it.

I really wasn’t ready to give it back to GM and buy a replacement. My wife sold Cadillac, GMC & Buick, so we always got great lease deals, but I think this will be the last. I’m a buy & drive it forever guy.

I am about to install my fitcamx today. Looks like a super easy install as it comes with connectors to power it from either the auto dim mirror or rain sensors. I like how it's molded into the factory style plastic cover and no running wires.

Yes, wiring BEHIND the airbag seems to be the preferred option. But if you are simply tucking the wire across the pillar the gap, you are placing the wire in FRONT of the airbag. Please see the video. It is very informative from the start, but the important part starts around the 4:00 minute mark.
I wasn't too worried about it and even when I had my accident for some reason the air bags (none of them) never went off and I was going around 25 mph. It was loosely placed in there (no ties or clips holding it) and the wire would've never held the air bag with the force the air bag would've had.

That's it ! The one I've been looking for but didn't know existed! I can't stand any that stick to the windshield or dash, I can't "unsee" them ? , this looks perfect ? !

Brian, please post before & after pictures and any lessons learned. Did you get the front and rear version and polarized lens?

Very Cool, I may just have to get a Dash Cam, as this was one of the reasons I have not installed one yet - don't like extra things in view for -Hey, I want that - FOR FREE - Break Glass, look what I got.

I would be cautious with tapping the (Rain Sensor) as if you have one installed then it is consuming amperage draw - With only a 5-Amp Fuse (Fuse #3) in the BJB.
I am afraid that the amp draw will blow the fuse with both a Dash Cam & Rain Sensor on the circuit or at least have the (Amp-Draw) near the fuse limit.

The Auto-Dim mirror uses a 15-Amp fuse, and the only items on that circuit is the Auto-Dim mirror and the Exterior Mirror-Control Switch

Does the Dash Cam - Instructions, give you any recommended Fuse Size or list power specs?
