The polarizing filter FTW! =)

I used a piece of paper on the dash to rotate the filter for the least reflection (not sure all cams offer this helpful advice).

That Ford cam is top notch and it sounds like your install was easy (Dongar dongle?).

still a little glare but filter certainly helps

The install should have been easy, I had the dealer install the dash cam and trailer brake at delivery. I didn’t want to be taking my brand new truck apart, breaking clips and trim, and wanted a “professional” install.

But, they must have had a 3rd grader do the install. Long story short, it was a mess and I finally gave up and basically reinstalled everything myself. My “new truck” feeling didn’t last a week.

Anyway, I like the camera(s). Performs better than expected and easy to control with the app. I do wish it had a record to cloud option and the only nit-pick, is that the manual record button was a little more prominent.

It does install with the OBDII dongle. That, you have to be careful with. My OEM OBDII plug is some sort of module mounted with the plug and it’s something I need to redo. There’s really no readily available place to relocate the module to then replace the dongle OBDII plug in the factory location. So, I have a tight bend where the dongle plugs into the original module still in the factory location. That bend will sometimes back off the connector a little and power down the camera. Have to keep an eye on it but, it hasn’t powered down in a long time.

I'm sorry to hear that the dealer installation was less than pristine. I know we don't have Rolls Royces but the Ranger costs real money and you'd expect respect from the dealer.

I hard wired mine in with a fuse tap but running that wiring was a supreme pain in the ... head! I nearly cracked my skull open on the scab rear door catch.

Interesting on the ODB port connection, our old mod @AzScorpion had nothing but good words for that approach.

I wasn't sure how it would work on mine because I do have an ODB connection for the Start-X remote starter. So that's why I went with a fuse tap, although I'm dubious about how well that will stay connected over the coming years, I could imagine it working loose and falling out.

Cloud upload would be nice. my Nextbase has some form of cloud thing but I don't know how to connect it and I think it probably has a subscription after some introductory period..

So did you also get the Ford trailer brake controller installed? That install looks pretty brutal with so much trim needing to come out and the third brake light connection - definitely over my head. I'll likely do the Redarc Liberty and just hope I never need emergency brake assist!

That’s basically what I told the dealer. Hey, I know this is not a $90,000 F350 Tremor, but dayum, treat my new truck like it’s a new truck.

Yes, I had the dealer install the trailer brake.
It’s not too difficult really, I just didn’t want to take apart a new truck.

That's fantastic on having the trailer brake controller - I'm envious of that!

But we already know that whatever you do will be awesome because you have a SCAB! =)

Good luck with it, post pics, and have lots of adventures with your Ranger!
