I've tried 2 obd2 cables from Amazon and Best Buy and it still has this problem. It's not the 5 minute shutoff, while driving it cycles to parking mode.
You have this same setup? Does your truck have auto start/stop?
I think you may have a spread pin on the OBD Port, vibration while driving losing connection.

While parked and camera running, slightly and slowly jiggle the connector to see if you can duplicate the same issue as driving.

I do not have a dash cam but tried to find some information on how the OBD (Connector) provides power and the ability to determine when ignition is shut off in addition on how the plug reads when ASS is active.

From what I can tell the Thinkware Cable is an 8-Pin connector (Universal)

But I believe that for the Ranger it utilizes these pins:

Pin 4 = Chassis Ground
Pin 16 = Power (Always Hot)

Pin 6 = HS1 Can Bus +
Pin 14 = HS1 Can Bus -

The Can Bus = The Communication for Ignition Status & Start / Stop Status.
This would also is the Input for the dash cam to enter driving or parking mode. If I am correct.

So, if a lose connection on Pin 6 or 14, could be triggering the Drive / Park mode switching if indeed that it is using those pins as a source.

I would have to see one apart to know if those 2 pins are actually a wired input for the adaptor.

Note: Some OBD Dash cam adaptors on use 3 Pins -as active
Power Pin 16 and Ground (Via Pins 4 & 5)
Pin 4 = Chassis Ground (Scan Tool Power - Ground)
Pin 5 = Signal Ground, this is the ground for Scan Tool (Communication)

The rocker switch on the adaptor, allows either constant power or kill power when the engine is not running. I am thinking it uses the charging system (higher voltage) to trigger it on but could be wrong.

Edit:

I did some further digging and yes pins 6 & 14 are the trigger for Drive & Parking modes, it is only looking at Can Bus activity, so when you close the door and the modules time out. The dash cam enters parking mode, then uses the dash cam settings for Low Battery Voltage monitoring for the dash cam to not power up (In a low battery voltage situation)

When you open the door, Can Bus activity is registered and the dash cam enters driving mode, if engine is not started the Can Bus activity will stop and the dash cam will re-enter parking mode after the module goes back to sleep.

In ASS (activation) mode there is still CAN Bus activity on pins 6 & 14. so, the dash cam should continue recording.

My Q800 pro uses a harness the piggybacks the obd2 connector. It’s called Echomaster, it has a module or something to switch power properly. Been installed since 2021 with no problem.
I tried the Echomaster cable and it works perfectly. Thanks man. Apparently the single wire obd2 cable Thinkware sells doesn't work with auto start/stop.

When I try to use my dash cam via OBD2 port, it switches between parking mode and continuous mode. It constantly cycles. I've tried a 2nd brand new cable and it still cycles. Has anyone experienced this with their Ranger/OBD2?

I just ordered this from Amazon. It creates a USB port from the harness that powers the auto-dim mirror. I'm going to try it with my Rexing V3 Pro and see how it does.

Found the same kind of thing on Amazon a bit cheaper. How do you like how yours works? I just ordered this one and will get it in a couple days.

I love mine. The voltage reducer/regulator is quite beefy.
the Amazon one is a bit anemic.
I’ve been using mine for about 1.5 years without issue.

I saw something similar but I have a standard rear view mirror. That would be my first choice if I could.

I got it and damned if it wasn't made wrong. The connectors are keyed wrong. I saw a review for it that mentioned this but not until after I ordered. I figured it was a one-off error but sure enough mine came the same way. I returned it and will be ordering the Dongar brand version that WpgLariat recommended above.
