Very nice snap-on Torque wrench… friggin amazing write up, my wife read it with me, now she thinks this is something she can do with how much detail you put in..
Maybe ill just sit back and supervise with a fine beverage while she does the work?
That would be a great team building exercise. ? Add some music to the mix. ?

She’s a tough one..
She actually got her first taste of that doing her own oil change on the little Nissan.?

Rumor has it NGK makes some Motorcraft plugs, I have a feeling these are since it’s stamped “Japan”.

NGK advises against anti-seize.

I’ll know in 60,000 miles if I should have. ?
Thanks for the write up. I enjoyed it and will refer to it in a few years. I always put anti-seize on spark plugs and aluminum threads in particular-it may not be needed, but I sleep better.

Thanks for the write-up! Now, I could just be an idiot here (very plausible) but I just wanted to state for posterity that the Coil Connector doesn't just "wiggle off" it's still a pinch tab even after sliding the lock off with your thumb. I was putting WAAAY too much force into removal earlier today trying to get my plugs out, thankfully a quick YouTube video gave me what I was looking for.
Aside from that one critique, excellent write-up, and thank you again!

P.S. You'd think that in Arizona my #2/#3 plugs wouldn't be rusted like an '87 Chevy at 60k miles but here we are!

Another member with Water in the wells - well documented on here, you got lucky they came out without issues or hassle.
They are known to corrode so badly they separate and leave the threaded base behind, some have had to replace the head but with some patience and an easyout they can be removed.

Did mine today. It was pretty easy but #4 definitely needs some patience to get the coil boot back on without wedging it into the open space around the plug and not actually line up with and sink onto the plug.

~73k miles, FP tune since ~21k miles, plugs did not look bad but they are worn. The new Ford Performance M-12405-20T (Denso ITV24) plugs have a "channel" in the electrode that the Motorcraft plugs did not.

I did mine at 53K miles. Of the probably 20 vehicles I changed spark plugs on, these were among the least bad. Definitely approaching time to swap them out and for under $50, it was well worth it. I didn't have any rust issues like others have noted but did get the OEM foam engine cover in order to prevent any future issues. My truck came from a generally dry area and appears fairly garage kept so that might have a bunch to do with it.
For any folks out there that haven't changed yours out: I recommend it. Of all the cars I've worked on, these are by far the easiest especially compared to a 428 CJ or 4.0L Ranger.

I agree. The 4.0L in the Ranger is indeed a challenge! Pretty tight space to work in! My 2020 was far easier.

Great write-up thanks! FYI Ford recommends replacing the boot at the same time as the spark plug. It's very easy to do and I would agree. With nearly 150hp per Liter... that's tough on the ignition system so I wouldn't neglect it.
