The new rangers have a cover/insulator over the high pressure fuel pump.

I will verify tomorrow as both the studs and cover are due to arrive.
The special stud = the cone shaped tip for the cover, and it appears that the studs just screw in just like the engine cover studs do, the only difference is that instead of a nut to hold the cover it uses the special stud (cone-nipple) and the cover just rests on top of those.

Why cut it, when you can relieve fuel pressure and disconnect the line in the matter of minutes?
I could see doing that if you were talking about a time saving short cut.

Since the fuel pump relay fuse is buried on the bottom of the BJB, you have 2 options to relieve pressure.

Disconnect the Fuel Pump Module - Connector and start it - till it dies and give it a few seconds of crank time - to remove the Fuel Rail Pressure
or
Pull the Fuel Pump Relay - BJB, with these relays proving to be delicate, I would go the connector route (disconnect) a little extra work to drop the spare tire down, as the module is right above it.

The fuel line is just a simple connection, but it takes a fuel line disconnect tool to get it off, available at any automotive store.

Or Ford used cheap recycled Chinese "who knows what" material! I've read of some pretty disgusting things that the Chinese recycle!

Put on your gloves before installin'...

jus sayin'!
It says Made in USA. And I don't see California's Proposition 65 on it. I guess I'm good.

I'll let you guys know if I have an extra arm growing out of my back. :giggle:

Is that the plastic bag for the product?

And just because it says Made in the USA doesn't mean the material didn't originate in China! WOW! I'm like the Energiser Bunny...

I did just that.

Only the cover arrived because not everything was in stock.

W721333S450B Stud HT2

LB3Z9K540B Insulator

MB3Z6A957A Special stud

MB3Z6A957B Special stud

Just so you know, it doesn't use the same type of studs as the engine cover. It uses the type where you push down and it snaps in place.

The engine cover has one. I pointed where it snaps to on the engine. (See pics)

The last picture shows two places on the fuel pump cover where the special stud snaps to. I'm pointing to one.

Thanks for the pics and part numbers - just ordered the studs now ...

Of course, I'm so impetuous that I had to order the cover last week and spend twice on shipping! =(

Oh the money I could have saved had I never joined this forum ... but then I realize the dark pit of despair that my life would be today had I never met all you fine folks! =p

These are the parts. It arrived today. You can see where "stud special" screws on to the "stud."

You have to remove a bolt in order to place the "stud." I circled where it goes.
