Hahaha it’s not ur fault mate! Other forms side it could be done that way LOL!!’ But yes I will be sure to post lots and lots of photos! I will document the process.

Does anyone happen to have the FMS? I wanna see if there is a access panel inside as it seams possible but I dont!
There is no access panel for the in tank fuel pump. You have to drop the tank to access it.

Normally you can lift/remove the bed to access the top of the tank and remove the pump. I did just that on my 4G.

Never really looked that close at it - until now.

But if you reference- the fuel tank pic above - for a SCrew - the fuel pump is mounted approximately 24 inches forward of the fill hose (inlet)

This places the center of the pump about dead center of the rear door handle

Using visual (approximation)

If you get pics with the bed off - it’s a GREAT opportunity for (Connector) and (Ground Point) ident locations:clap:
I have just about all connectors but lack ground points for the truck

According to ChatGPT (take this with a grain of salt) the 5G North American Ranger SCrew has an access plate under the rear seat, and the pump can be removed via the opening. The Scab requires the bed to be removed to access the top of the tank.

The T6 Australian Rangers require the bed to be removed and the tank dropped to replace the pump.

Disclaimer: I have no idea how accurate this info is. I've not looked in the Service manuals to validate yet.

I currently have my Scab on the lift ready to go up. The next time I raise it I'm going to take a look at where the pump is located with regards to the back end of the cab. The lack of access may apply just to the T6 models. ~70% of all 5G Rangers.

Negative - For access panel - from this borrowed pic - which for ref the fuel pump would be aligned with the (splotch) in the paint on the door sill and the vertical raised section (mouse house) plus all the manuals have you drop the tank

Yeah, why wouldn’t they build an access panel into the bed? 🤷‍♂️
Sure, an access panel would give you access to tank in the case of a pump failure, but it would also allow water/dirt to pool up on top of the tank, unless you could make a tight seal with the cover.

Of course it would have a sealed cover. This isn’t ROADKILL.

I've seen access ports added to pickup truck beds, and most looked exactly like the bed with a 2" overlay. Bolted down. I did not see it removed, but it would be trivial to add a gasket.

Hi friends wanted to do a short write up on everything including the fix and a few helpful things i found

Issue - Car missfiring at idle. Truck dying and having low fuel pressure. High Duty cycle of pump and not able to maintain Pressure on the low side.

Fix was to replace the fuel pump for a ford OEM one -$540 + 40 for Gasket ( From Ford Parts counter W/ Discount)

Once i dropped the tank i found a few other issues.
1. Low pressure side fuel hose clip was broken and ziptied
2. Fuel pump side Low Pres fuel hose clip missing part
3. Body side of fuel tank harness broken.- zip tied.

You would think getting these parts would be easy- NOT!
After some looking and a good bit of luck i was able to find the clips as part of a Doorman fuel hose connector. Part # Doorman 800-134 I was able to take the red part and the black part and save the hose. Most autozones or amazon has this same day.

Problem 3. Was a broken wiring harness clip on the truck side. Dealer quoted $600+ After looking at the connector closley i found its a generic Molex connector! (Molex 0349851601) $3 Connector! you will also need a tool to remove the pins ( 0638131500)

Once you get that tool you can depin the connector and push those pins into the new connector takes maybe 5 Minutes! ( MAKE SURE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY )

NOTE - Turns out all main connectors on the ranger are this line of Molex. meaning... any broken connector all you need to do is look for the part number on it, search that, and buy the 3$ part and fix it without much work!

In the end im not sure if it was one of these smaller issues or the pump. But at the end of the day it runs better than ever and i feel confident in the truck now!

I hope this can help other people. feel free to commit with any questions.
