I believe the bolts showed up in late 2021
I have a 2021 that was built Oct 20th of `21, I'm not sure how much later they get than that, and it still has the plastic screw pins.

My '22 had a build date of April 19, 2022 and still had plastic fasteners.

Maybe because it's a Scab or XL? I did luck out and have fold-down rear headrests (but no hood struts).

Wow, $100 at Amazon (and I'm still pretty clueless as what it does!). =D

Thanks for the video, gonna watch it now. =)
Update: Holy Cow! This is an awesome video! Thanks!!!

I see this manual one, is it the same kind of thing? Only $24:

I think they all do about the same thing….
Just depends on how much money and/or effort you want to throw at it! ?

I tell you what BButah, after seeing the awesome video you shared, the nut and bolt technique should work perfectly. =)

Thank you for that incredibly useful video. I'm going to do that to all three nut dealios.

The 2019’s had all the stuff AND lightweight fasteners.

Just did my first oil change since installing the rivnuts and thumb screws. It makes it Soooo much easier and quicker than having to deal with those POS plastic fasteners. Between them and the Valvomax drain valve the longest time was waiting for the oil to drain.

My 2021 arrived early October and also has the plastic screw clips.

My 22 has same - Bolts
More precise- Aug 22 Build - gained oil filter access cover bolts but lost Led Headlights and Hood Struts, which both of those have been rectified.
So it appears that the late 22 builds was the delete of the plastic retainers

I was doing the 1st oil change on my wife's 23 ra ger and got my Phillips screw driver and needle nose pliers to start cussing those cheap plastic screw anchors that you must take out to move the rubber flap down to gain access to the oil filter. I looked in the fender well and there were 3 nice bolts that takes a 10mm to take off, instead of the crappy riviot things. 1 improvement that made the truck better instead of taking good features away like they have since 19. There's hope.
Had to make them 10mm, huh?

I use magnets- works great!
Same. Much faster.

I'm a paint and body tech. I have to work with all types of cars and trucks in my line of work. I see all kinds of fasteners. For some reason the push pins used here don't bother me. Guess I'm just used to it.
I do like the 10mm bolt idea though.

I think after 5 or 6 years most Rangers aren't going to have that splash guard anyway.
