Oil threads are the secret sauce of any automotive forum. The best inside jokes, the biggest fights, the most bans, always the oil thread.
Hard to argue that, I guess.
But "I think I threw a rod" has to be a close second.

It's not exclusive to automotive forums either. Go to any firearms forum and ask what type of oil/lube to use on your guns and watch the chaos issue.

Like I said though, I haven't verified that they'll work, although they at least look close to the same size. I haven't had a chance to swap them out yet.
"Compatible With: fit for Land Rover Replaces LR024316 (Fits Into 9mm Hole) "

the holes are 6mm on the ranger and yes it took 3 minutes to remove a single clip:punch:

Guess they'll be getting a 3mm touchup with a unibit then. I've got no problem with making those holes a little larger.

Only until the tailgate damper was invented.

Full syn and a Motorcraft filter every 5000 miles. That's what I've always done on all my vehicles.
Supply chain issues what they are, I'm not as picky about oil as I used to be but I try to get Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum, or Valvoline Synthetic.
The Ranger holds 6 quarts instead of the traditional 5 so I figure that's a little extra cushion.
I replaced the pain in the butt plastic screws on the flap with these magnets. Holding on so far for a year.

You know the environment you’re driving in makes a difference too. If you’re driving up and down the southern coast full of salty air and sand your vehicle will be breathing that. Without cameras down your plug holes or an oil analysis you’ll never know.

This video has me thinking should I replace the screens at some point maybe at 100k or 150k?
I do 5k oil changes and does this eliminate the issue?
On turbo Subarus, we remove them. The only thing they do is clog and take things out. I honestly don't understand why screens like this are used. They clog, things fail. If something is loose, it either causes a failure or get recycled back into the sump and then caught in the filter.

As far as oil change intervals, I use ester based oils and use sampling to establish a norm. I am still on my factory fill, but will be changing soon (2,500 miles). I'll be putting the OEM stuff back in for another 2,500 miles and then move to Motul 300v 5w40. I'll be sampling to find when to change the oil, then repeat to see if the trend follows. I may follow up a sample many changes later.

If anyone wants to change it out, it looks like you can easily get to through the right wheel well.

Looks to be about a $40 job if you DIY. Not terrible and something to perhaps keep in mind at maybe 100k.
