I've always changed mine at or around 5,000 miles with full synthetic. Some say it's a waste of money but it's cheap insurance and good piece of mind.

been doing 5k oil change intervals based on dealer recommendations (and since I bought a service plan from my dealer, 5k intervals are included). I didn't even realize there was an oil change monitor on my cluster until recently when flipping through it for another reason. I did notice that the manual mentioned extended oil service intervals and was curious why my dealer was recommending 5k. didn't complain at the time because it wasn't costing me any extra money, but had thought about going to extended oil change intervals after my service plan was up.

I think now that I won't be doing that and will stick with 5k.

I feel the same. I only put about 4500 miles on a year, so I just get the full synthetic oil change "The Works" done when I take it in for yearly PA. state inspection.

Every 5k with The Works. Been doing it since I bought my 2012 Focus (sold).

sounds more like screen maintenance was the problem, the oil change interval was not the direct cause.
except when you consider that oil quality degrades over time, changing oil sooner means you catch it before it's broken down as much.

sure, screen maintenance would have been a biggie, also

Retired, work is a four letter word.
I also change oil/filter with full synthetic every 5K miles, which is about every year so I just do it on the trucks anniversary. I do it myself as I installed thumbscrews on the fender flap and a quick drain valve on the oil pan, ( don't have to remove the skid plate) takes me less than 30 minutes with the filter being the time sucker, what with having to clean the plastic drain off channel so it doesn't drip on the floor. Only tool needed is the filter wrench. I also take an oil sample to send to Blackstone just for my information.

So do you also rotate the tires and inspect the brakes on your 5k routine? Checking all the fluids is nothing, but the other stuff they do on The Works is well worth my time not having to jack up one wheel at a time to rotate the tires in my driveway. Plus topping off the fluids including the windshield washer fluid is a bonus.
