And how does one get this?!?! Sounds too good!
I got it through the Ford Dealer the same time I bought the truck.
I wonder how many actually ask for extended warranties at the time of sale. I always do. It is the best time to make a great deal on extended warranty.
On my Ram 1500 I had a 7 year extended warranty that ran out at 6 years upon impact with a deer. Sometimes it pays, sometimes it doesn't. I would rather have it and not use it than not have it and need it.

its too bad all those delinquent drivers out there with no insurance don't feel the same.
My neighbor got his brand new Ram 3500 broad=sided by some idiot with no insurance. He ran on foot from the accident. When the cops caught him, he said "he was running from the devil". Needless to say you weren't going to get any money out of that guy.

I didn't have to ask, they really tried to sell me one. But I knew the dealer is not the cheapest place to buy a warranty. Even so, I haven't bought one (yet) for the Ranger.

On May 25th, I had a 2019 Ranger come across my desk with HVAC issues. The blend door diagnosed bad, and it required a dash out repair. This day also happened to be the last day of my Factory warranty! After I quoted the repair job, I walked over to the finance department and purchased myself the Ford extended warranty.

Basically a bad blend door cost the owner $4000.00. OUCH!!!!

I just ordered a generic heater control valve to install inline and hopefully prevent the dreaded heater box warpage. These trucks have full heat through the heater core at all times leading to all kinds of failures (planned ?). I'm glad i don't have the big screen (hint). No dual control either. The AC is also constant and I am going to try switching the AC clutch off. These trucks are either too hot or too cold and in constant correction. A stupid design IMO.

update.
Heater has worked better than factory system all winter. I recomend this repair for those trucks out of warranty. Zip tying the heat door to fully open and pulling the ac clutch relay works well. The fully adjustable heat valve works excellent to control cab temperature and there is no suprises with remote start and defrosting. Nothing worse than on a -10c morning go out after 12min of remote start to find no heat/defrost working.

Whoaa..... Soooo our A/C clutches are always engaged, and the radiator fluid is flowing through the airbox at all times.... and all that stops it from effecting the AC during the summer is the crappy heat door/flap?

Any video or photo's on how you incorporated the DIY heater valve?

The AC clutch only engages above 32 deg-it is used in colder temps - used for window fogging (only engages with defrost) mode most vehicles
Coolant is constant - flow through heater core - blend door - allows/ blocks the heat from the heater core
(Colder temps operating)
Below 32 it does not engage

in my career I have had 3 dashes fully apart to repair properly - doable but you must be patient and mark / identify all wire disconnects
It amazes me that they have not come up with a easier access panel vs pulling complete dash assembly for a heater core / blend door replacement

Does Ford have a history with crappy heater box design? I only ask because I bought a 1998 Explorer Limited for $50 and refurbed it and one of the issues was the fancy (for 1998) dual-zone climate was out, stuck on hot. It turned out the blend door was broken and it was a really common problem. I was quoted $2100 because it was a dash-out job to put a new heater door in. I ended up purchasing a Doorman blend door repair kit from Amazon for $10.38. With the kit, you had to cut an access hole in the bottom of the heater box, reach up and pull out the broken bits, and then insert the new blend door with a metal indexing peg (the stock ones were plastic and broke), and then tape up the hole you cut with included metal tape.

I worked for just over a month as a service writer in the area my wife and I relocated to in Florida (from the ATL area) and I got to see some neat stuff. But, the wife and I discussed it and the job wasn't for me, as much as I enjoyed working around cars and trucks. And, the coworkers were pretty good to work with and treated me very well.

Please throw some prayers and/or positive thoughts my way. I retired (early) from a 16 year career in law enforcement to move down here so my wife could start a different job. I have an application in with a local PD for a civilian position as a quartermaster-fleet manager position. I'm really hoping I get it and it turns out to be what I've been looking for!
What are the pros and cons to not repairing it?

Non-working HVAC, or basically it's stuck on heat (or AC?). I know the truck I supplied the photos of, the HVAC was stuck on HOT. No good in South Florida because it's damn hot down here. And according to OSHA, the HVAC has to be fully functional in a work truck. Thus the client approved the repairs.

The workaround fix is a bit bodged and band-aide style, in my opinion, but I like it for the money saved! I am OCD about having all of my systems functioning properly in a vehicle and am not a fan of band-aide fixes. But to get you heat or cooling, hell - I'd do it!

Yes, the shut off tap keeps the dash and cabin cooler all summer and doesn't tax the ac system so much(probably saving more fuel than the ASS).
Keeping it partially closed in the winter keeps from overheating the box and really reduces the hot plastics/drying caulking smell which really annoys me about this ranger. The truck smells like a garbage fire after a couple hour drive with the old always hot setup as Ford used crappy non-curing sealants in the heater box.

I will get some pics a little later on.
