Biggest tires, no lift?

So I ordered some KMC KM718 summit wheels 17x8.5 +18 offset, loaded with Falken Wildpeak LT275/70R17-C load range. I know people have had luck with Ko2 in this same size with just a lift, i think, but not sure if the Wildpeaks tend to run a bit larger?? I'm prepared to install readylift anti- intrusion beams if necessary, but curious if I can save myself the extra work/hassle.

I've been torn between sticking to OEM sizes and going 265/70R17, vs what I ordered.

Anyone have input on something close to this combination? Thanks.

Also just noticed the tires are now $22 cheaper per than when I ordered them 2 days ago. Phone calls will be made.

From what I've seen/read you will be fine with a 275 70 17.

yea i just had to cut off the intrusion beams thats it. but my wheel offset is +1 i think if you go -12 your gonna have to cut some more.

Went with 265/65’s with the level kit. Perfect fit IMO

My research showed that 265/70/17 or 265/75/16 is the biggest you can go on stock suspension. I have 265/70/17 and they work great...no rubbing. I got under the truck and double checked for rubbing...none

But if Im being honest, it would once again seem I've been lurking in the wrong corner of this forum... I will be going 275/70R17 WITH an Eibach suspension 2.5-3" lift up front... I'm finding I'm not too good at reading the fine print around these parts ?‍

My goal is to one day read the title of the thread before I start yapping in it.

And here I thought it was just me! searching on this forum has been... ummm...an adjustment from my last vehicle forum. I think I'm slowly figuring it out, but now I just post random shit in the wrong places constantly to keep everyone off the scent of my slowly gained competency. ?

You should definitely upgrade the spare. Your spider gears in your diff will absolutely hate you if you run a different diameter. However, it does suck buying a brand new tire just to be used as a spare, so I would recommend getting a cheap used tire that is the same size to mount as a spare. It should do the job in a pinch. That's what I'm planning to do at least!

I think you can keep and use your original spare if the flat occurs on one of front tires (and you run in 2wd). If on rear you would need to first swap one of the front tires to the flat rear and then use the spare to replace the front tire you removed. Bit of a hassle but doable.

Best to just do a google search with ranger5g in it, another forum I'm in we all do that, the search feature sucks in some forums.

This is correct. Save the money on buying a new spare. If you have a flat, it is 50% likely to be on a front tire anyway. If it is a rear, the only loss is a few extra minutes swapping wheels front to back. Just don't use 4wd with the spare.

My luck I would have the flat out in the back country and NEED 4X4 to get out!

I can confirm the 265/70-17 Cooper AT3s fit an FX4 with zero issues:



Huge improvement. Very impressed with the truck's capabilities on those tires.

Again, 265/70-17 fits a stock ranger with no other mods, without rubbing. These are likely the largest size that will. Someone should make this post sticky.

In other news, please, please, please for the love of the sweet baby flying spaghetti monster, don't put a leveling kit on your truck. Save up for a real suspension system that better manages all four wheels, not some Carolina squat bullshit.
