That’s not an actual hole. It’s just a cavity. No air can pass. That would be a horrible design that would still allow air to flow and probably make a lot of noise. The actual problem is the driver side blend door not working. A new blend box is required
I didn’t replace the steering bolt but I didn’t know I was supposed to. I’m not so sure the single pain in the ass bolt at the windshield needs completely removed. The heater core is on the bottom and I can confirm that from grabbing one of the lines and learning the hard way. Glad the job went...
Yep you’re good to go. Be nice if you could find the two screws that face the firewall and exchange them for screws that take a Phillips or socket. Those two were a pain. A lot of hand cramping and cussing. A ratchet would’ve be really nice.
Didn’t pull it apart yet but the drivers side is a lot harder to turn. Tried to upload a video comparison but the file’s too big. Guess I wasted my time taking videos
Took some pictures of my defective box and the drivers side pin seems tilted. Almost like the rod was too short and caused the center of the pin to be pulled in towards the box. Doesn’t look fixable without replacement. Every time I tried reseating the actuator it never felt flush and would...
I actually went to the dealership and they looked up the part by my VIN. Then I shopped around online. My dealer is really high. Should’ve started with this instead of just showing you what I bought
It’s still a pretty big project. The amount of wires and plugs had me nervous. Was worried I’d nick one or pull one out. Getting the new box to line up was tough also. Putting everything back together went pretty smooth
Didn’t need any extra parts but I did break some clips on the plastic parts. Ordered some of those
took me 4 days but I was just working a couple of hours after work and taking my time. Did need help to remove the dash and reinstall but other than that I was alone
hvac issues are solved now
When putting the dash back you’ll see two tabs on the brackets on the transmission tunnel. The brackets have 4 screws, just remove the top two. When you put those tabs in the holes the dash will swing up towards the fire wall. Goes right in.
sorry about the picture. It’s the silver bracket to...
Just did the replacement of the blend box. Didn’t touch the heater core or anything else, only the blend box. You can pull the blend box toward the drivers side and it will come out. The two screws facing the fire wall did take some time but they’re reachable with a stubby screwdriver.
I...
thanks to dmeyer302 I Used his video and removed the actuator. Replaced with a new one. I’ll sell it before I pay over a grand for Ford to remove the dash. It’s been a good truck but this major problem has me thinking about moving on
