I have 27k miles on my truck. I drive 30+ to work, so not a warming-up issue. I have had three Blackstone tests and five oil changes. Blackstone oil dilution results: 2%, 2.5% and 3.3%. Since I change the oil every 5000 miles, I imagine there would be 6.6% fuel in the oil if I took Ford's advice and change every 10,000.

I called Ford to ask what I should do. They said take it to a dealer; they would know what to do. I took the truck to the dealer. They claimed they were not aware of the problem and, essentially, refused to do anything except offer to get an oil test, if I pay for it and drive the sample to a local place that performs oil analyses. I elected to take the sample to send to Blackstone.

No documentation of this discussion on my paperwork. I complained about that.

Blackstone says over 2% is a concern.

After I get the fourth oil analysis back from Blackstone, I will call Ford again.

Here’s mine with 10,200 miles on the truck and about 2,200 on this oil change. I don’t daily drive my truck. I drive on weekends, an hour and a half to my cabin, short trips while I’m there, and an hour and a half back. I drive 90% in D, locking out gears when needed and occasionally use S or tow/haul. I generally drive with a light foot and average 22 mpg combined.

I'm not sure if it's related or not, but I would fill a catch can every 500 miles with what seemed like unburt fuel. I changed the exhaust and switched to Rotella and barely get anything now. Either the can stopped working, or something else happened. I'm not smelling fuel in the oil either.

the exhaust angle is intersting, now forgive me guys, I havent made thru all 137+ pages yet,
also, So far I'm thinking Amsoil is looking better everyday.

When running a catch can, do you still use the pcv valve? If so it may not be working.
and with all this talk about the fuel, I'm surprised many people are not posting the oil used.

Guys, I mean, I am almost there. I'm page 104, and seemed to be going ok, till one guy says he was selling his ranger for a turd, at least that's what the engineer called it. And then out of nowhere some guy who actually took his elementary schools teachers advise and learned the metric system, thru all us back wood others for a loop, but not to worry, cuz one of us found out how to use google, now we're all able to start cooking now. You know who you are, you tablespoon lovers. But i think we have learned now to start comparing our dipstick levels after a fill up to our neighbors. Hell I say its time to start taking our dipsticks with us to our neighbors' house and check his oil, that is after we smell it. lol.

All this panic for no reason…. I hope none of you that are worried about this ever build a high HP boosted car/truck like some of us have. You think a tiny bit of liquid is bad in your catch can. ???????

BS ,some have had big problems sure if you haven't it doesn't mean much. But don't talk like we don't know what we're talking about. I don't call a half of quart to a quart rise a little bit of liquid!

Half a quart is out of the ordinary for a stock truck and should be checked. I’m referring to others with a couple ounces. That’s the majority of panic in this thread. I get it having forced induction and GDI are both new to a lot of Ranger owners. Both add elements that not many on here are used to. I just hate to see the chain reaction of panic occurring.

The problem is Ford doesn't want to follow this thru to a fix with the people who are having severe problems with this condition. If you read back in this thread you'll see they take it to what they call a fix and then try to tell you it's normal or ok! Even filing a case with Ford gets you no were! I wish some of the people who have had severe problems would come back to this thread and give us an update!

When I bought my Focus RS, I was unlucky enough to get one of the Vin’s that had head gasket issues. At 2,000 miles my $43k car blew a head gasket. Ford dicked me around and my RS sat at the dealer for months due to parts being on backorder. Luckily they bought the car back but I know all about getting screwed by ford. The problem Is that every RS owner assumed thier car was gonna blow up. The same is becoming true here. New owners are assuming that this fuel dilution issue is gonna happen to everyone and create panic when in actuality it’s a tiny fraction affected. That’s all I’m saying.

I got rid of mine after pulling an extra quart out of my oil change and my garage reeked of gasoline, then i was getting an abnormal turbo lag but i aslo did not use the flat bed and a truck was just not practical for me, I bought a 21 Explorer with the same 2.3 10spd, i have 4k miles on it and the dip stick doesn't rise nor does it smell like fuel

Thanks for the reply on my post!
mine got better after the HPFP replacement. But did not solve it. I put A MBRP dual exhaust on it and got a little better(not sure if that really did anything or not). But since the last oil change I have only went from middle of hash marks to 1/8” over the hash marks. Might be I am a little more aggressive with it with the new exhaust cause I like to hear it more.?. But, I will be trading it in on a’22 Ranger Tremor in March. It being built March 7th. Couldn’t pass up the deal they gave me for the trade in. So I might get lucky and get one that doesn’t do it or I’ll be starting over. Wish me ? luck. If not will be back to keep everyone up to date.

If it is only a little gas; maybe it will help clean the engine from the inside. Like a free lucas treatment to help keep sludge away.

and I have nothing useful to add - Ill show myself out.

After my local dealer refused to do anything about my reported oil dilution issue, I spent a few hours talking to Ford Customer Service about what, if anything, Ford was prepared to do. The final answer is, they will not do anything about it. They will not pay for an oil analysis.
