Getting my bed sprayed this week and an Folding Tonneau makes the most sense for my needs right now.

Would prefer a model that you can open and close the tailgate with the tonneau remaining closed.

I believe the BAKflip MX4 fits the bill but what are my other options?

The MX4 works great.

I have an Undercover (one of the flex line … don’t recall which one) that works great.

I have had my MX4 cover for 18 months, no issues, looks good on my Lightning blue Ranger

The MX4 works great.
Loving my mx4. Very sturdy and locks in at each fold point for good security. One drawback is that is seems easily scratched.

The Lomax Tri-fold works the same way. the Bakflip seems more popular, But I went with the Lomax ( weather tech) because I like the ability to remove the whole thing. I am not much for driving with a cover propped up against the back window. thats just me tho.

the bakflip looks a little more finished than the lomax, but lomax claims their method of sealing is more water resistant. however, my experience has been water gets in no matter what they all claim. The Lomax does not use a water channel or drain tubes. for better or worse..

personally I hate them all.. but in the new world we live in you cant even leave a busted shovel in a pickup without someone taking it.

I forgot to add you can open and close the tailgate with it down/latched.

I also have Undercover
But I think any folding cover can open and close the tailgate with the cover closed

Diamondback armor trifold...
The basic Diamondback SE for me....i have had bak flips on two other trucks and they just aren’t durable enough. The trifold I believe is the 270, and they have one in the outlet section for a Ranger. I have put 400 lbs on the top several times.
