That is a AC-47, the more common AC-130 was used for a gunship from 1962-1970, and mounted 6 M-134 Miniguns. There were a series of aircraft that were called 'Puff', and the AC-47 was the 1st I believe, it also had 6 Miniguns. I watched one do a pass over a NVA camp one time, awesome amount of firepower.

Less exciting than a gunship, but I guess I can bring down the average age in this thread a little bit... Baby #2 is on the way.

Yes, we had two 7.62 minis, 2-40 mm bofors, 2- 20 mm Vulcans, prior to the arrival of the 105’s in 72.
The mini’s were discontinued in the middle of my tour.

Yeppers. The threats got too capable at mini gun effective altitudes. You should see the current weapons. I posted a link elsewhere.
Sorry for the thread hijack. Here's a photo of my real face to make up for it.?

We didn't have ti

Sedona was awesome, I didn't get a change to run the broken trail, we did some fire roads only and sight seeing, I'll definitely going back. We met a local guy at the restaurant and gave me this map.

We didn't have enough time to run the broken Arrow trail, I'm definitely going back, Sedona is an awesome place. We met a local guys at the restaurant cowboy club and gave me this map.

I wish had more time but didn't got a chance to run the broken trail, we did run through Boyton Canyon and some fire roads for the sight seeing on ruins. We are definitely going back. We met a local guy at Cowboy Club restaurant and gave me this map for cool places to off road. You can off road to devil bridge at bottom of the ridge and then hike up.
Next time you go out there head over to where it says Ancient Ruins (top left on map) and follow the signs to the Honanki Ruins. You can view the old ruins there and the petroglyphs which is really cool. From there head to the Outlaw trail which starts over by the outhouses. The beginning is somewhat rocky but nothing hard and about half way it turns flat and an easy ride out back to the fire road.

Another really good one is Diamondback Gulch. It's on the same fire road heading out to the Honanki Ruins but it's on the right side. That ones a little more challenging but still nothing to hard.

So, on the homepage, I saw Dave’s avatar as the most recent post to this thread. Of course, I rushed to the bottom of this thread, hoping to see his smiling mug but, no, just some pictures of rocks and sand - I absolutely love AZ - even had a vacation home there for a number of years, crashed my MTB and ate sand on trails there many many times, so I’ve already seen more than my fair share of rocks and sand.

Oh well, maybe next time. ?
