I do not build or rebuild transmissions. all I can tell you is what the 3 transmission shops I dealt with over the years told me. it may not completely uncover the filter but enough of an air gap occurs to waste the trans with long term use. you dont have to take my word for it, go to a trans...

well then all the trans rebuilders I know must be wrong.

think about the filter/pick up being in the normal position, when cornering or under hard acceleration the fluid will move to the side or back of the pan & the filter will try to pull air instead of fluid.

it is still the same principle, filter/pick up is not covered when cornering & hard acceleration.

on my C4 when it was upgraded, the trans builder insisted on a filter extension with a deep pan. during hard acceleration & cornering the standard filter will not be covered by the fluid. it will most likely be the same for the Ranger setup.
