the railroad at Wayne plant is actually doing pretty good.
here is some times for my order:

6/21 order accepted by ford.
I think I had my VIN within a week

8/10 window sticker came online
8/16 I think is around when tracking site changed to in production, but no ship date.

8/18 dealer texted me picture of his computer, it showed produced 8/17 with 00:00 time stamp
8/19 tracking site showed "built 8/18" and shows delivery date 9/5-9/11

8/21 tracking site showed "shipped" (Saturday)
8/21 dealer gave me rail car number.

now I switched to CSX tracking

8/21 shows rail card arrived at Wayne 8/19
8/23 @ 2:32 AM train left for Cincinnati.
Keep in mine this was over a weekend, so it took 2 days to get out of plant, loaded and moving on train.

8/23 @ 3:00 PM train arrived in Cincinnati
12.5 hours to go 254 miles = 19mph

8/24 @ 12:34 am, arrived in Louisville KY (I missed the message when it left Cincinnati).
8/25 @ 3:50 pm, left Louisville KY to Birmingham AL

8/26 @ 5:07 am arrived in Birmingham.
13.5 hours to go 464 miles = 34 mph :)

8/26 6:55 am, departed to Manchester GA
8/26 5:57 PM, arrived at Manchster GA

Looking at rail network I am betting Jacksonville is next.

in fact I guess the whole processes has not been bad compared to stories I was reading.
ordered accepted 6/21
truck shipped 8/23
that is only 9 weeks

I assume you are tracking the train movement by a website, can you share web address.

My dealer is telling me the truck has been shipped but nothing on the Ford Tracker or the PALSAPP agree with that. Maybe there is another info source I need to look at?

By the way, I wished for a 9-12 week delivery timeline and not the 5 months it has been,

Get railroad car number from dealer. only they can provide this number. This is found on the dealers tracking system.

CSX

1. Call the CSX 1-800-235-2352
2. When prompted for location or weight say Location.
3. When prompted for the car initials, say (initials of your car) then wait for the next prompt.
4. When prompted for the car number, say (your car number)
5. When prompted for next car say DONE.

Wait and it will tell you the last departure or arrival.

Notes: be sure to listen to the car number, mine has letters that the phone system confuses what it hears.
I have read this is a service for CSX customers only, you never want to try to talk to a live agent, if they try to transfer you hang up and call back.

This has to be the one and only time in the history of customer service/order tracking that I've seen this advice, LOL!!!

CSX provides this tracking service to it's shipping customers. In this case that is corporate Ford, not us the potential new owners. If the potential owners kept bothering CSX human customer service representivies they could change to a tracking method that involves logging into a website.
We (those of us tracking custom builds) already bugged the vendor who answers the Ford phone calls enough that they told employees "tell the caller we cannot see detailed info on the build processes and they should call the dealer" . (but I know they can see detailed info because one person that would answer some of the calls used to give me that data)

Still nothing. Per the Ford order tracking site it is still "In Production" with an estimated delivery date of 9/2.

My cup of frustration runs over.

I think I have come to the idea that it only updates on mondays

Dealership called today confirmed truck was built. Apparently ford is behind in delivery process. If there going to try to shift there buisness to ordering over dealerships they need alot of improvement. Truck has been sitting 4 weeks. Our suburu from Japan made it over here faster. Lol

I called the GM at the dealership and basically asked "WTF, where is my truck?" He was helpful and gave me the answer. The gist of the answer is the Ranger is done and ready for shipping. Like the Ranger above, it has been waiting to be shipped for a little while, and yet there still isn't a firm delivery timeline - maybe 2 or 3 weeks (my words, the GM was careful not to commit to any particular timeline.) My sales guy committed to getting the Ranger to me on the day they receive it.

Meanwhile, on Saturday I am buying a 1999 Ranger XLT SCAB with less than 90K miles. One of my HS classmates has it for sale. I intend to give it to my kid but will drive it for a few weeks until my Ranger gets here.

I am not sure I believe your dealer. Mine was ordered 7/12 and built 9/1 and shipped 9/3. I have confirmed with the dealer that it is on the rails and as of 9/7 was in Indiana and headed to dallas(they would not give me the rail car number). I order the factory bed liner and that didn't seem to delay anything. Hope you guys get yours sent soon.

Ford Customer Service very frankly told me that Lariats aren't shipping because they're waiting on chips. That's why XLT models that started on same date or later are in the hands of owners or at least on the way and Lariat owners aren't seeing updates on the Ford site. She told me that the original estimate for chip for my truck was 8/29; that date had already passed before I called them - currently the official answer from Ford is "no ETA in shipping for Ranger Lariats". Those that have been stuck in "Production" status are built and sitting at MAP waiting for the coveted chips.

You are correct. I should have specified that mine was a lariat. Supposedly two weeks ago it was waiting on chips now it has them. Its really hard to tell. My gm was able to speak to the ford rep and admitted it was a shit show at the moment. There is some confusion on trucks with chips and trucks waiting on chips. I'm planning for october. I'm just aggravated I missed out on incentives.

First I have found Ford only seems to update stuff on Tuesdays.
if you ordered your truck last Friday, The order would be accepted the following Tuesday (if dealer got order completed in time).
Last Tuesday 9/6 there was no ranger orders accepted.
the next scheduling period is 9/13 which would give you a build date of
the week of
11/1, 11/8 or 11/15/.
See schedule here

The easiest way to track your truck at the beginning of the order cycle to get your dealer to give you the order number, and the dealers sales code number.
than call Ford 800-334-4375 1 than hold
tell them you want to track your truck.
With the order number and sales code the people on the ford line can look your order up.
once they see a VIN they will give it to you
THAN you can start to use the Ford tracking site.
But to be honest, its best to call Ford on Wed since the records only seem to update sometime on Tuesdays.
