Mike I Hope you are doing better. :like:
Thanks Greg! So far the pacemaker is working well, have my follow-up Friday. That clears me for surgery but that got pushed back to mid September there's another patient much more critical than I am so I gave up my original surgery date.

True, but if you elected to not get the vaccine, own it. Just curious if he got that sick and DID have the vaccine. It’s a simple question. He doesn’t have to answer it.
I'm really curious as well, but it's a deeply personal question about his medical decisions. Answering it will only invite criticism from one side or the other and not provide any meaningful insight into the merits of vaccination.

If he wants to volunteer the information, fine. If he doesn't want to volunteer it, people should stop hounding him about it.
I didn't want to turn this into a vax/anti-vax thread. I don't see what there is "to own" as even the IV nurse who had been vaxed still contracted Covid and many others are. Now I did get lazy with my mask wearing and yes, that's on me and I will go back to wearing them.

I asked my Dr about prescribing me Hydroxychloroquine and he's says it's to dangerous and can cause kidney and liver problems. But in the next breath is pushing the vax which no one knows the long term effects of. lol Now they're saying yearly booster shots are going to be needed. I'm not ready to be a guinea pig for a new vax but I'm also not going to criticize those who got jabbed.

I've lived my life doing everything as natural and holistic as possible and so far at 57 it's worked out pretty darn good as I don't need or take any meds and have zero underlying conditions. We go to a local holistic Dr to get monthly immune booster shots (which again we got lazy doing) along with other natural supplements. I think things were going really well and we just got lazy between our mask wearing and our monthly shots and it came back to bite me in the ass.

Hilarious that Covid vaccine is where society decided to draw the line for people to be accountable, and most are so proud to virtue signal. Alcohol, fast food and tobacco each kill more every year than Coivd has in it's career, but alcohol is considered a staple of life these days. We have a society with 30% collecting government hand-outs. Personal bankruptcy is an acceptable financial plan, and kids can graduate high school without being able to read or do basic math, but crucify anyone not willing to take and experimental drug to prevent a virus of 2% infection rate and about 2% of those are fatal.

The over-reaction to Covid is absolutely absurd, especially 18 months in. Lock-downs were for a few weeks to flatten the curve. Emergency over-flow hospitals built and had almost no use. Yet 18 months we still believe whatever the TV tells us. Masks are bad, masks are good, 2 masks is better than 1, 3 is better than 2, the vaccine will fix everything, the vaccines doesn't stop the spread..... They have no idea what they are talking about, and spread fear to control the masses.

My 2C. I work in the medical world. We did a blind study on 1100 employees to see what their personal choices were. Now these are mostly people that have studied and been trained for the medical field. The results were only 38% of the total were vaxed to date. That was about 2 months ago. Everyone else said thanks but no thanks. What that tells me most did their homework and decided the risks were greater than the rewards. This is a typical approach for any drug used during decision making. Seeing how it’s played out got to respect the personal decisions. Nobody really knows what time will bring us.

Glad you and your girlfriend are feeling better. Since my wife is a cancer patient I was just curious if you got that sick after being vaccinated. Sorry to put you on the spot. Most people don’t have a problem declaring what side of the vaccine debate they are on. After the doctors told us if she got Covid she would likely die from it my outlook changed. Everyone’s situation is different.

We are so glad to have you back Damper Dave. Maybe not 100% yet but you have a strong will and will get there. I lost my father to Covid a year ago April when they really didn't know squawk about COVID. He went to a hospital and after 5 hours in emergency room they let him go home. He had all the symptoms. I was there the whole time and they gave him Mucinex and said go home. I was with him the whole time. My Mom called two day later and said Dad was burning up still. I said call an ambulance and take him to a different hospital my preference. I never got to see him after that. :frown: Why myself or my Mom did not get it who knows why. Please ware your masks and get vaccinated!!!!!!!!

God bless Dave!

Mark, my sympathies on the loss of your Dad. I know how hard that can be. But remember, as long as he is in your heart he will always be with you.

There is a doctor at work that has been on me about getting the vaccine. I told him I might consider it at the end of the year when more is known about possible effects. During that time I observed family and co-workers that had been vaccinated. When the Delta variant started increasing, I began seriously researching information on each vaccine. I recently saw the same doctor who, once again, asked me if i had gotten the shot. I told him that since I had observed all of them that had it, and not one had grown three heads:shock: I would probably get it. I received my J&J vaccine August 4th. I did feel like I had the flu for 1 1/2 days, otherwise I feel great. I do believe in doing things naturally when able though. I also take no medications.
Take care of yourselves. Educate yourselves. And do what you feel is best for you regarding the vaccine. (Hopefully, ya’ll won’t have to deal with three Tracy Bowmans - time will tell!).

Before the most famous Doctor says that vaccine is in the back of the boxcar, time will tell:crazy: and now it is telling us that this thread is done with welcoming Dave back.

That is the biggest hurdle I had to get over. We're basically guinea pigs everytime we get a shot. But this one was develped quite fast, and it did bother me a bit. The wife and I aren't getting any younger, but thank God we are still healthy. We finally decided to leave it up to our Doctor who we trust, and she advised we take the shot. I guess it's one of those toss ups, don't take it and risk your life. Or take it, and risk your life 10-15 years down the road from some stupid side affect that causes you to grow another head. :) Oh well, life is full of risk. Thankfully my dear old Dad did his best to instill some common sense in my big ol' dumb head. And common sense will go a long way in keeping us safe.

That reminds me of a joke.

Do you know the last words out of a rednecks mouth?

"Hey y'all, watch this".............................

Disclaimer: I'm an old southern boy, and a consumate redneck according to my dear wife. :turkey:

I had the shots. Not a big deal. Just a little headache is all.
