It was a scam from the gitgo. Dennis was just baiting the resistance with this hoax.
It made my heart skip a beat when I saw the thread title. My first thought was the damper failed and now someone was walking around looking like this. :surprised:

Obviously I was in cahoots with Dave as interest in the Damper appeared to have waned slightly.

Now the Damper is again front and center in the thoughts of Rangeristas.

Just in time for Christmas!

There are several things somewhat slicker than Astroglide, and a whole lot less expensive. It is called J-lube, but it is sold under several names. It is also the stuff Hollywood uses to make slime. It is a polyethylene polymer mixed with sucrose.

A 10 Oz. jar is about $20 from Amazon, and will make several gallons of slime, if that is what you're into! Even a half teaspoon of J-lube in an ounce of water, is enough to lube several tire rims.

If can be used for other things too, but before you do, read the data on their web site (https://j-lube.net).

You all notice that the one's with the damper are the one's that suffer from tailgate squeak. The damper causes slow motion stickness forcing one to spend more money on yet another unneeded product. Those of us that use our tailgate normally do not have this issue. :like:

True.

Mine was too.

Until just out of the blue...GGGGRRRROOOOAAAANNNNNN.

It didn't slowly start making noise, it was like someone flipped a switch from silence to making the neighbors look around to see whose cow had escaped.

Clearly the dampers fault.

Same here...80 thousand miles and the squishing sound is gone...dead silent operation...

Remember when you were a kid and your mom made you wear something your friends or school mates made fun of?

The tailgate damper is the Velcro shoes of 'mods' and your trucks are groaning at you in disapproval.

Do you hear music along with the whining? "We're men, men in tights..."
