Question for the 265/70r17 no lift/level, no cut folks. Has anyone played around with spacers/offsets at that size?

I've scoured the tire threads and closest I came to was @FULLSCALE at one point having 265/70 with 1" spacers and only needing to adjust the crash bars.

There's the article: https://4wheeldriveguide.com/ford-ranger-big-tires-no-lift-all-you-need-to-know/ that gets linked from time to time which indicates you could go up to +20 offset (which would be 1.25" (or even 1 3/8") spacer equivilent.) Wondering if anyone had pushed it out to 1.5"/+18 with or without any issues/modifications needed?

Still haven't found a dedefiniti answer to how big you can go on the sport 17 wheels(current 255/65) without a any mods/lifts/levels.
265/70-17.

Also do you need to upgrade the spare? Or because it's a temp it's not a problem to run a bit lower diameter tire for a short time.
No, it's close enough although people have said they fit a 287/70-17 in there. As long as you don't turn the rear locker on (if you have one) it will be fine. If the diameter is a little different turn the traction control off.

Just curious, what would turning the rear locker on do in regards to having a 285/70/17 tire? I haven't heard about this and am debating on what tire size to go with. My '21 FX4 has the rear locker option. Thanks!

Your original spare is smaller in diameter than the aftermarket 285s you’re running. If you get a rear flat and put your spare on, your differential needs to be able to compensate for different size tires on each side.

I went with BFG KO2 265/65r18 and there is no rubbing. I also added the Fox 2.0 coil overs to give the truck a better stance.

Hey Tony and fellow SD member. Do you have a picture of it showing how much it pokes out extra?

For the 18 wheel users. As @GTGallop mentioned, I would not go wider than 265. However, @Trash Panda has gone 265/70/18. Myself I have 265/65/18. Both of us report no issues. This is for no suspension upgrades, no spacers, and no crash bar modification. Not sure if Cody has taken it off-road and neither have I. Will update if there is any issues. Do notice an aggressive tread and sidewall will beef up the look a bit as well.

Yep, 265/70r18 Highway tread tires.

My truck is 2wd, I know I know, so I have not done any off-roading.

Street wise no scrubbing. Just an inaccurate Speedo due to the taller tires.

Has the ride quality improved over the stock 18's with a bit more sidewall now?

I run the same tire. It didn't make the ride worse, not convinced they made it better. Ran on stock suspension for a short amount of time before installing the Fox 2.0 kit. Truck rides reallllllllll good now.

I have not taken it off-road which I would say is where it will be most important to test out... But, in terms of city/highway driving, I feel I have more grip and "feel planted". This is all from the feelings of my butt, so take it with a grain of salt. I will echo that the ride quality definitely did not decrease, however I did notice it loses slight grip over bumps going over 85-90. It was same bumps I went over with the Hankooks but keep in mind those are city tires meant for little highway bumps. My butt loves the ride quality though and my mind tells me it's better.

If you are looking to reduce the boaty feeling/body roll of the truck I would slap on some stiffer rear shocks or go the full route of coilovers in the front too. But I think rear shocks are sufficient enough at least for my type of off-roading and don't want to ruin my current center of gravity with the way I drive. Overall, yes it is a difference in ride quality but I really want to test the ride quality off-road primarily. Not to mention if my math is correct, I gain an inch of clearance as well.

EDIT: I have not adjusted the speedometer, so that may be the reason I feel a loss of grip at the same bump I take at 85-90. Now it probably is more like 88-95 in actuality. I have to watch out for the changes in speed at high speeds.

I put 265 70 17 on mine fits perfect. Would like 285s, anyone try 275 70 17?
I've been running 285/70-17 for most of my 77K miles...no not stock suspension...my brand new 265 factory wheels/tires are still sitting in my garage...

Just had BFG KO2's in 265/70r18 mounted on the factory 18" wheels. No rubbing and haven't had to adjust my front crash bars as of now. Plan to install a 2.5" level in the next couple weeks but what a difference over the factory size. Wish I would've taken like for like pictures before/after to have a better comparison to show.
