It's just as @Nathan289 says - here's a picture to show you just how it works. The horizontal bars represent your crash bars - the shaded tire in the RHS pic represents where the tire is moved to with the change in offset. You can see how it hits the crash bar.

That totally makes sense now on why some get rubbing and others dont on same tire size. It was confusing me when reading this thread, thanks for clearing that up.

Happy to clear that up. I also updated the photo above to include the 0mm offset wheel not turned.

I used 0mm offset for this example but with any offset lower than the stock 55mm, it works the same way - just to a lesser degree than a 0mm or negative offset wheel or spacers.

Nice wheels. What are the offsets? I wonder if the further we get away from stock (+55 for 18") the more chance of rubbing? I'm kind of new to this wheelfitment, but thats what i'm noticing, anyone with more exp able to confirm?

The offset is +25, wheel size is 17".

I just had some bfgoodrich all terrains in 265/70s installed on some icon vector 6 and they rub the front and rear crash bar.

Have you loosened the crash bars yet to try moving them away from the tire? People have reported that there is room for play with the crash bars. Depending on who was on the assembly line that day, the bars on our trucks may be pushed forward or back to some degree. Some here have reported rubbing and then once they loosed the bolts and pushed on the bar, it moved enough to clear the tires. Regardless, your combination of tire size with the +25mm offset should not rub with a 2" lift.

+12mm with 1 1/2" spacers?
Is that too big of a spacer? That should get it to +52mm. Trying to get very little poke.

Are you able to take a picture of your clearance with the crash bar? I have 265/70R18 Falken Wildpeak sitting at home, waiting on the rims to install. But I'm super nervous about rubbing.

Thanks to my patient buddy - Chris, that installed my tires today.

1st let me say....
On stock rims, there is no way that the 285s won’t rub on the upper joint.

I had already had the leveling kit installed.

Last week I decided since I already had the bars that I might as well install them.
Glad I did. I would’ve been installing them soon anyway. A little close for my comfort.

Well today the tires went on...
To no surprise, the rears had no issue.

But on the front, well... that was a different story. While it did “clear,”... I’m 99% certain that there would be issues.

So I dug out my 1.5” spacers....
Immediately installed them in the fronts.
Probable issue solved.
Then popped the rears on.

I also added a matching full size spare.

Only issue I see now, I’m going to want fender flares
Yet again, Just open my wallet. ?

See I don't get it. You can find may guys saying just delete the crash bars and it's fine. You went with pretty big spacers. Others say only .25" is needed. It's all over the place on bigger tires.
With a .5" spacer it's basically a wash.

Finally got my setup completed and installed. I got the RTR Ranger wheels 18x9 +30 offset. With general grabber AT/X LT 275/65R18. I have the 2.5" Rough country leveling kit. I had a little rubbing when back up out of parking spot, not sure where it was rubbing but I'll figure that out. The set I got already had the TPMS sensors which the truck learned them on its own which is nice. I. Very happy with this setup not sure of I will get fender flares or not. Might try to find the ones that come on the tremor.

After reading this post I am a little bit worried because those are the exact rims that I just ordered lol. Truck looks great btw! The Lund fender flares would look really good on your truck

Thank you very much, i am looking at the Roush Fender Flare Kit (Magnetic Metallic), They sell them on Stage3motorsports. they are painted the same as the sport package (magnetic Metallic) would give me that little wider stance. But that being said i love the look of this wheels and tires and the truck just feels more planted to the road even though it does sit about a 1.5 inches taller handles so much better.

Just my .02 worth
I went with a bolt on spacer. 1.5” doesn’t require shorter studs.
1” bolt on spacers require either trimming/grinding the oem wheel studs.

The spacer you are referring to are a washer.

I’ll stick with my 1.5”
Like the stance it gives my truck.

I am currently shopping tires and I like the looks of the General grabber A/TX in th2 285/60/18 size. It is 31.5" which would preserve some gear ratio and will fit my stock wheels. I have Bilsteins front and rear with a 2" raise in the front. Anyone have any idea how much of a spacer I would need and if the crash bars will be an issue? I have splash guards too...

I can also get this size in Nitto and Cooper. I would go for the lightest weight.

So I just installed the RC 2.5" leveling kit and new updated sway bar links. Anyone know what's the biggest tire we can go on that set up while still using the stock rims?
