Just updated to Sync 3.4 on my Ranger 2019

Planning to install this evening. Rather than letting the truck sit there and idle for a half hour, am I ok to just connect a battery charger (that is compatible with AGM batteries) and keep the battery topped up that way?

Which vehicle is that for? That looks to be a v3.0 installer.

Almost 100% sure it was for my Ranger....(though it is quite possible I accidentally downloaded one for my wife's 2018 Edge). Time to re-download and see what happens this time!

Yours should be very short since it's really only the main application pack. Should be maybe 10-ish minutes. Accessory should be fine.

I notice you're missing climate controls as well...

You know, I didn't even look after I got it updated and Android Auto working, but it would appear so....

Yeah, it looks like this may be the case. The version string will update with 3.4 AFTER a map update is installed.

I can now confirm this.
I had updated the map to 119 prior to updating Sync to 3.4 -> Result: 3.4 showed ver 117
Having updated to 3.4 and being curious I reloaded the map -> Result 3.4 now shows 119
That said, i still do not have the voice file......grrrrrrrrr

OK, new file list...looks like I did download the Edge update previously (oops, glad I didn't try it in the truck).

Looks better to me!

Well that's where I am a bit confused. I was driving this time and a screen popped up that said it was going to restart and it need a key on/off. But, like I said I was driving and I could not read the entire dialog before the system shutdown. At that point I was close to home and basically turned off the truck after it rebooted (which was probably the first time actually but almost 1 hour in). But about that dialog...I know I read something about a key cycle.

If you recall, I tried loading it seperately and got a messgae about install compete and then it rebooted itself. But then the ISVU screen showed no Voice file.

AT this point I'm not sure what to do next....reload the map again or try loading just the file or punting.


EDIT: To be clear...how many restarts should I expect and when can I actually turn off the truck?

Yup. Just confirmed. Climate controls are now missing after the update, and they were there prior. This is even after a master reset.

Any thoughts @UofMEngineer ?

Edit: it even shows the temp setting, but all controls are gone.

3.4 downloaded fine but nav still says 1.18 so I guess I’ll try to load that again.

For a lot of folks, myself included, the microphone during calls is extremely low so the person on the other end has a hard time hearing you.

You can find out without making a call by connecting to Carplay, open the voice memo app on your phone and record yourself counting or whatever. Stop the recording and push play. If you're affected, you won't be able to hear yourself very well.

It seems like its mostly iPhone 11 Pro and Pro max people having the issue.

I gave it a try when I was out running errands.
I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max, and used the voice memo app to test

When I got home playback on the phone was pretty quiet!
What it sounded like to me was that it wasn't even using the truck mic, but instead using the iPhone mic sitting on the seat next to me.
I might test that theory later too. Which would make it an iOS/Carplay issue and not necessarily a SYNC problem.

Both you and I have XLT S-Crew 4x4 and had the issue, whereas Clump has a Lariet and didn't have the issue. I realize it's probably reaching at this point but so far the commonality is XLT trim. Normally it wouldn't be a huge deal but without the climate button we have no control over the vents.

Yup. I don't use it often, maybe once/twice per month, but this is definitely an issue from an official update. If needed I can reach out to support/the dealer to fix it.
