Is there any chance you had them clocked 180º from how they originally were? As I recall, there are gaps in the teeth at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions... maybe it fits smoothly in one orientation, but demands alimony in the other?

If you never drained/filled/flushed the fluid, then that's actually probably about normal. This fluid gets pretty dark even though it's not "burned". When I did my first drain/fill (I don't recall the mileage... maybe around 30k?) the fluid was very dark.

I had no issues at all while I had the spacers installed. When I got new tires a few years ago, I went with both a taller and a wider tire, and with the spacers they stuck out way too far, so I removed them. They were great with the factory setup.

Yup, I have been thrilled with my driveshaft. It does add one additional maintenance step: I grease it when I do oil changes. But that takes all of 5 minutes.

Drove up to Silver City, ID yesterday with my son. We went up the "easy" way from Boise, stopped here at the old hotel/saloon/restaurant for lunch. Took the back way out down to Jordan Valley, OR. Great road/trail conditions, cool history of an old mining ghost town, and tasty lunch.

This is a nice quick and dirty solution for sure. I have magnets like these stuck to the drain plugs of my rear and center diff... and they stay put really well.

I'm pretty sure my puddle lights that came with my AMP steps came with magnets already installed... at least, they are also stuck to the frame magnetically, and have been fantastic for years. Love those steps. :)

An M4 bolt is too small - it'll not have anything to bite into. If you don't want to put a nutsert in, or install a nut on the back side, you'd have to do at least an M5, probably an M6 and possibly slightly drill out the holes... and they'd only have 1 or 2 threads holding in the thin metal...

Yeah, I considered the magnets, but I already had the nutsert tool, and prefer the mechanical connection. If I didn't already have the tool though, I likely would have gone with magnets.
