  1. How To Lubricate Your Driveshaft Slip Joint

Is there any chance you had them clocked 180º from how they originally were? As I recall, there are gaps in the teeth at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions... maybe it fits smoothly in one orientation, but demands alimony in the other?
  2. Anyone who has a Tom Woods Driveshaft Installed

As for your original question: My video on lubricating the slip joint covers how to remove the rear end of the drive shaft: https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/how-to-lubricate-your-driveshaft-slip-joint.16648/ The carrier bearing is just 2 bolts, and the front where this connects to the...
  3. How To Lubricate Your Driveshaft Slip Joint

Hmmm... have you reached out to TW about it? In my experience he's been both very knowledgeable and helpful....
  4. 10R80 transmission poll.

If you never drained/filled/flushed the fluid, then that's actually probably about normal. This fluid gets pretty dark even though it's not "burned". When I did my first drain/fill (I don't recall the mileage... maybe around 30k?) the fluid was very dark.
  5. 1.5" Wheel Spacers and 2" Leveling Kit Installed

I had no issues at all while I had the spacers installed. When I got new tires a few years ago, I went with both a taller and a wider tire, and with the spacers they stuck out way too far, so I removed them. They were great with the factory setup.
  6. How To Upgrade Factory Puddle Lights

Just a quick update: I'm the original poster here, and I installed these nearly 6 years ago now (holy crap how time flies!) - and the ones I installed have never given me any issues at all. No flicker, still as bright as ever, they have worked perfectly. If they ever do act up, I'll likely...
  7. One Piece Driveshaft

Yup, I have been thrilled with my driveshaft. It does add one additional maintenance step: I grease it when I do oil changes. But that takes all of 5 minutes.
  8. 10R80 transmission poll.

2019. Roughly 65,000 miles. Have not had to do any transmission repairs, but I have taken several preventative measures: 1) Installed a soft-shift tune from Livernois. This alters the shifting strategy from stock. 2) Added an aftermarket deep pan with extra capacity and cooling fins along the...
  9. How many miles on your 2.3L EcoBoost

Dayum. That's nearly 250,000 freedom miles. Nice! Have you had to do any major engine or drivetrain work? Outside of normal maintenance, what have you had to fix/repair?
  10. Take off shudder troubleshooting

After I produced the video on greasing the splines (which completely solved the thunk I was getting when coming to a stop / pulling away from a stop) I ultimately swapped out the driveshaft for a Tom Woods 1 piece. That *completely* fixed all the weird shimmy/vibration/shudder I was...
  11. Look at my Ranger parked next to stuff

I hope you make it up there! The road in is a piece of cake. Well groomed dirt/gravel, with some tight hairpins, steep slopes to one side or the other, but overall easy enough that there were people doing it in minivans and front-wheel drive low-slung sedans. As for elevation: Silver City...
  12. Look at my Ranger parked next to stuff

Drove up to Silver City, ID yesterday with my son. We went up the "easy" way from Boise, stopped here at the old hotel/saloon/restaurant for lunch. Took the back way out down to Jordan Valley, OR. Great road/trail conditions, cool history of an old mining ghost town, and tasty lunch.
  13. MBS Extended Automatic Transmission Dipsticks now available

I just used a full 10oz bottle as well. Lubegard 63010.
  14. How I Replaced The Factory Clips For The Fender Liner For Much Easier Oil Changes - Thumb Screws

Pretty innovative solution! Out of curiosity, why not leave the factory fasteners along the bottom edge, and only put your magnet/screw/small hose solution on the top 5 holes? I usually only ever have to pull the top 3 or 4 when I change the oil. I've never had to remove the lower fasteners at...
  15. How I Replaced The Factory Clips For The Fender Liner For Much Easier Oil Changes - Thumb Screws

Interesting! Yours is a 2022 Tremor? I wonder if Ford switched to bolts on the Tremors.... or switched to bolts on newer years... mine's a '19, and I was pretty sure all 5G rangers came with the stupid plastic clips.... but I guess not?
  16. How I Replaced The Factory Clips For The Fender Liner For Much Easier Oil Changes - Thumb Screws

Did you buy new? Or did a prior owner upgrade it?
  17. How I Replaced The Factory Clips For The Fender Liner For Much Easier Oil Changes - Thumb Screws

This is a nice quick and dirty solution for sure. I have magnets like these stuck to the drain plugs of my rear and center diff... and they stay put really well.
  18. How I Replaced The Factory Clips For The Fender Liner For Much Easier Oil Changes - Thumb Screws

I'm pretty sure my puddle lights that came with my AMP steps came with magnets already installed... at least, they are also stuck to the frame magnetically, and have been fantastic for years. Love those steps. :)
  19. How I Replaced The Factory Clips For The Fender Liner For Much Easier Oil Changes - Thumb Screws

An M4 bolt is too small - it'll not have anything to bite into. If you don't want to put a nutsert in, or install a nut on the back side, you'd have to do at least an M5, probably an M6 and possibly slightly drill out the holes... and they'd only have 1 or 2 threads holding in the thin metal...
  20. How I Replaced The Factory Clips For The Fender Liner For Much Easier Oil Changes - Thumb Screws

Yeah, I considered the magnets, but I already had the nutsert tool, and prefer the mechanical connection. If I didn't already have the tool though, I likely would have gone with magnets.
