does anyone make a ditch light that's more aerodynamic that a Rubik's Cube?
is there a reason why they are always mounted where they are?
I totally get the whole ditch light thing - I’ve never off-roaded at night but I can see how these would save your butt if you ever got caught out there late in the day or were delayed for any reason like @dondonbabyraptor was a few days back.Rigid makes one that's rounded and personally I think they look a lot better than the square lights.
They're usually mounted on there so you can see off/out further when off roading at night. You want to ge the light up over your hood without reflecting off the hood back at you.

Great story Duke. Sometimes we just get caught off guard and things don't go according to plan, that's for sure. Can't imagine riding down the mountain in the dark, terrifying.I totally get the whole ditch light thing - I’ve never off-roaded at night but I can see how these would save your butt if you ever got caught out there late in the day or were delayed for any reason like @dondonbabyraptor was a few days back.
Totally different situation but similar context - I was in PHX on business once and headed to South Mountain Parks for a quick mountain bike ride - always travelled with my MTB - parked at the end of E Pima Canyon Rd and headed up to the top - forgot how early the sun sets there and messed up on day light saving time - got to the summit and suddenly, it was pitch black - no lights - no way I’m riding back down the trail in the dark - had to take the road out and ghost behind a car all the way down the switchbacks to S Central Ave. It added 15 miles to my ride - on the sidewalk along Baseline because I had no lights. Ugh!
So, yeah, lights - lots of lights - like @Msfitoy kind of lights!
Not electrician but I do HVAC work, and get about 1 years worth of electrical schooling, so let me encourage you not to change out a fuse for a higher one.Does anyone here know if I can change the 5A fuse on the AUX 4 of the upfitter switch to a 10A??
They are 100% not the same size.Ford may have decided to keep all the wires the same size.
If they did, then one would ask why not make all the fuses the same size? Glad you asked, simply I wouldn’t know, but let me give us something to think about.
If they did this, “if” I would be asking myself what is the total load design by fords rated fuses. That may be the number you don’t want to exceed. “If”, then we wouldn’t have to worry about any one particular fuse but our total load. Then making it sketchy, because now you’d be relying on your own cognitives not make a mistake by turning on too many. “Wait, was that, number 2 or 5 that could not be turned on with, was it, 3 or 1? Make sure you have fire extinguisher near by, I can see where this could get exciting.
Best to speak with an auto electrical engineer.
