I've never paid for an oil change... That said, I run expensive (actual synthetic base) oil and it's still less than what I'm seeing people pay here for an average oil change.

Just got an oil change at the local Ford Dealer in Wisconsin Rapids, WI and it was $130 plus change. First one I got in So Cal in 2022 was $89 then one there in 2023 was $99. Have enough points for one more free one, then it is time to do them myself. The price of $130 is just getting out of control. When I was still working my wages never increased at such a fast pace.
Check out the labor rate at my dealership........that was in April might be higher now.

I have the maintenance pkg that included 10 oil changes. I was wondering after the 3rd oil change why the percentage was dropping rapidly. I decided to change oil myself. I couldnt get the oil filter off. I finally did and with synthetic QS my percentage between changes increased dramatically. I don't think the dealer ever changed the filter! I never went back for another oil change and do it myself for under $30. I'm 68yrs old. 2019 XLT bought new in March of 2019.

you'll need a little trim remover tool they often include 100s of new plastic tabs too for around $10
and Get one of These: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GX1VMRP?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
drain plug is 15mm
i had the worst time getting filters out until i got this thanks to another forum member telling me about it. once you find the little channel that directs the filer oil to fall in a certain spot you will find this a very easy change they really did a good job once you figure out the access... was near impossible to get filter out without that tool though, what a nightmare...
Haha the global 3.2 diesel has the filter in the exact same spot but it doesn't have the little gutter under it, AND it is one of those abominable Euro style plastic cartridge filters which dumps dirty diesel oil everywhere when you unscrew it. Yes I use one of those trim removal tools too they make the job easier.

I had the privilege of changing my own oil a million times in my younger days. It’s less than a hundred bucks around here and well worth saving my back so I can screw it up on something I enjoy doing.
What might that be?

The oil changes on these trucks are the easiest I've ever done. With a fumoto drain and removable wheel well plugs I don't even have to jack it up. I like the little drain pan under the oil filter too.

Dropping off/picking up at the dealer and waiting a day is more work.
Even if it were free I don't want cheapo "blended" oil. WTH.
The Works package here is still $80, includes oil, filter, tire rotation, brake inspection, and fill coolant and washer. I make an appointment and I'm in and out in less than an hour. Or they will pick it up from work, and return it, no extra charge.

My last oil change was done by myself for just under $40 with full synthetic. I installed a ValvoMax drain plug so I can skip removing the skid plate. Takes maybe 20 minutes total, with most of that time waiting for the oil to drain. What is getting difficult for me is doing the tire rotation. My LT tires are heavy and it's hard for me to line the holes up with the studs while holding the tire up. Might need to buy a tire jack.

I run the Havoline synthetic that comes in the 6qt box and a Motorcraft filter. Both from Walmart. 74k miles with zero issues. Roughly 35 dollars an oil change. I change the oil every 5k miles. I did use the Motorcraft oil until I was out of the warranty period. Didn’t want a warranty denial over something trivial lol.

I did my own changes on the Ranger, not sure if I will on the bronco once the points end.

To avoid those stupid push pins on the fender liner I got some strong magnets off amazon an used them an never had a problem. I never went off road so that might be too much for them.

I also used the Fumoto drain valve with the nipple for the rubber hose. I'd coil it up an leave it on the skid plate. Pull it down, stick it in a collection container an flip the valve. I never worried about the the valve being damaged since it was above the skid plate. You need a spacer for the valve on the ranger. For piece of mind I would stick a bolt in the drain hose in case the valve failed.

I too, am finding lifting and aligning the wheels harder as I age, especially the Jeep tires. Look up wheel dolly, I find they really help.
