I had the same thing happen when I replaced the drive train in my 2005 Ranger by an independent shop. They took them off and didn't put them back on. Worse, they threw them away! Worse, they no longer make or stock them.Supposedly, transmissions built after 2022 have the updated sleeve/bushing and some other changes.
Mine was just replaced last week with a different transmission with updated components at 59640 miles. Shifts better than it ever has, if only the dealer would have put the splash pads back on on both sides of the wheels wells instead of tossing them (now in a fight), all would have been good.
If I end up taking my 2020 in for transmission work, I think I'm going to remove the splash pads before I take it in. Then reinstall them myself.
