Sounds like you have a valid fix, If I had a picture, I could probably determine exactly what the (Positive) Wire grounded to mount goes to. --- This is a Short to Ground

Being that the Tech stated (Network) , he may be stating a (Positive) Com feed

But as far as Power to the BCM - It would be (1) of 2 wires feeding the BCM, to tell BCM the Key-In and Key-Position, once this information is received by the BCM, it then allows the Ground on the Run/Start Relay

Either way, I'm glad they finally found it

Now, sit back and relax and enjoy the Ranger

Great call from over the net  You had it there in the column with the switch.

Yeah, I have to say I'm incredibly impressed with @airline tech 's armchair diagnosis of this issue....

WELL DONE!!!!

I was hoping - that when I suggested to move the steering wheel up and down would have generated it to fail- it’s pretty common with tilt steering- wire harness flex when you do it.
More noted in multi-drivers - move steering wheel - more often than a single driver
I am thinking that the run/start relay was working- but the com signal was lost that it was getting power

Am I going to keep it? At this moment, I am in no rush to offload it.
But, I am looking

At close to 3 months at least 10 trips to the dealer with one on a rollback. Reading about transmission issues, etc. My faith is a little skewed.

Again a huge thanks to Airline tech and the rest of you all.
Transmission issues? What trans issues? Hard shifting that can be fixed with a reprogramming? The few that had to have the valve body replaced?
Surely not the 'Oh my God! My 13-quart trans is 1/2 quart low and it's going to blow up' problem?
Remember, the 10R80 is used in many models from Ranger, F150, Mustang, Explorer, etc. There are millions of these transmissions out there. If there were real design problems, there would be many reported failures. Don't worry too much about it until symptoms arise and let Ford handle it.

Relax friend, I’m not concerned with 1/2 quart low or any of the other issues I’ve read. I don’t change my oil every 500 miles, I don’t care about expert testing of said oil.
I was just thinking out loud more than anything. I really won’t be surprised if something else goes wrong down the road.
So far, 3 days since picking it up it’s running like new.
Time for a tune! ?

About a week since repairs were done.

Runs like nothing ever happened.
Service manage called me this morning to see how it was going. Said he was holding off submitting to ford until he checked with me.

This is good to hear. Sounds like the Service manager is trying to keep up to date.
