Looking to service my trans and there is lots of different ones at way different price points. Rock auto, Hastings that comes with filter, gasket and seal for $30. And then there’s a motorcraft that you only get a fiter for$56. Those that have Did service on there trans what did you go with?

Just had my 2020 XLT done. Went with a Napa filter (I find their parts are typically of high quality) There was no need to change pan/gasket.

I buy aftermarket WIX spin on filters. Easy access and annual changes.
But for the 10R80 I went OEM. PITA to change, long service interval and mostly the transmission valve body's sensitivity to debris in the fluid. I'll save my pennies elsewhere.

Stick with the Motorcraft ULV fluid. I always go oem to avoid warranty issues. If you are going to drop the pan, go an extra mile and install a PPE pan. Avoid the future mess when you you do a drain and fill.

Stick with the OEM filter. Gasket is reusable, but get the new rubber ring for the filter. No sense not replacing it while you're in there and it is like $5.

We all recommend oem oil filters, these are even more important for the trans. They have 2 different filter mediums based on temp. Does the aftermarket do that? Probably not as good.

I haven't ordered a new one in a while, are they still doing it? They walked back the temp controlled flap a while ago, I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they changed it and went to a single material. Never made a ton of sense, these filters have a ton of area and ulv should flow well even when super cold, never understood why they felt they needed it. I suspect it wasn't for temp at all regardless of what they said. I think it was to have a section of filter that wouldn't load up and restrict over their dumbass 150k service interval.

I want to see the 10r80 that makes it to 150k without servicing it.

Huh? You’d have to be an idiot to go 150k on any transmission without servicing it!

Right?

I'm sure there's some out there....question is, how much past 150 do they make it?

Correct you are, but that's what Ford said the interval is.

At least it is a really good filter as far as transmissions are concerned.

No transmission should have a service interval of 150k. Same with the lifetime antifreeze makes no sense to not change them. With proper maintenance changing fluids regularly most cars should last 150 to 200k. The manufactures have the service intervals (10k oil changes) designed to get past warranty then have major issues from lack of service. People then buy a new vehicle. I like to keep my vehicles for at least 15 to 20 years.
