Dont forget that the factory Motocraft air filter does just fine too. I ran them for a while until I switched to AEM air filter(just a drop in replacement) and had no problems with dirt and dust getting by.

I agree with you about the quality of Motorcraft replacements and use Motorcraft oil and filters in the Ranger. But opted to get the Wix Air Filter because of a better price.

Dealer changed the engine filter the other day, I checked when I got home and it was a Wix.

The only reason for that is they were most likely out of the factory Motocraft filter. No need to read into it much

Some 2020's still had the glovebox damper. If yours does you have to take that off first.

My 19 does not have the glove box damper, so I figure the tailgate don't need one either.

The Wix I put in had noticeably more pleats than the Motorcraft filter. That said I would be fine using a Motorcraft filter.

My 20 doe's not have a Glove Box Damper...but this compensates for the muscle loss from my Tailgate Damper!

Got my Wix engine air filter today and compared it to the Original OEM with 7875 miles on it.

The OEM was surprisingly clean considering I live in a dry desert area and drove in a 5-hr dust storm last week. Looked at it thru the Sunlight and no visible signs of significant dirt stains. Shook it out then vacuumed both sides and no particles in the vac filter. I'm sure there were some minute particles embedded in the filter area but not noticeable to the eye. Because of the desert conditions, I was going to change it at 10,000 but have decided to go beyond that because it looks very good now and will monitor it periodically. The owner's manual says to change at 30,000 but that will probably be to far out for the climate I live in.

The OEM was made in Mexico and the WIX in China. Both filters looked very similar except the OEM had a plastic grill on top and the WIX a metal one. Both units looked and felt sturdy with quality filtering material. The OEM had 87 ribs and the WIX 100. I will post pics as I do the Air Filter changes.
