Tire Size Fitment Master Thread

Mid-Size

Didn't go as daring as others, but haven't seen anyone else with this size so thought I'd throw in for reference.

Old tires: Stock 255/70/R16 Bridgestone Duelers
New tires: 265/70/R16 Falken Wildpeaks (+0.5" same size as stock 17")

I dig the look more than I would have thought. Might not even upgrade to a 17" wheel, currently running the base level steel wheels rattlecanned matte black w/matte clearcoat.

I would have never considered this look an option having not seen it... the black paint ups the wow factor 100%... I'll be following in your foot steps with that same setup... A+

I put Wild Peak AT/3W's, 275 70R17, on Icon Rebound rims, 17x8.5 +25mm, and mounted them only with high clearance crash bars, no rubbing street driving. Will not go off-road until I get my Fox 2.0 coil overs on Monday.

I just wanted to step in and say thanks for this. I'm considering the exact same tire brand and size, but using the stock FX4 17 inch wheels on my Ranger.. So seeing this work is really helpful. Any pictures with the FOX suspension set up? I'm assuming you don't have any rubbing issues and/or had to mess with the crash bars, right?

The pics are with the Fox 2.0 suspension level. Love the ride on the road and off road (heavy rutted forest roads) I also installed the Icon UCA which helped the alignment.
This setup gave me a positive scrub angle of about 23mm which isn't really a bad thing.
I DID NOT get the 2" of lift advertised, only got a fat 1.5". To get that 1/2" I will have to pull the coil overs and move the ring. Fox tech said that it is a 2:1 ratio so move the ring 1/4" will get 1/2" offers lift. The tech said that moving the collar more than 1/2" was a no go and that if I wanted more I would need to change springs. The only rubbing I get is full lock in reverse on a piece of the fabric wheel liner that is kind of poking out. I do have the high cleance crash bars installed. The install wasn't really that hard just buy extra blades for Sawzall, 1 per crash bar.

Yeah, that's honestly why I have considered the Eibach kit over the FOX kit. I think Eibach is adjustable without having to get the spring tool and all that to move the ring. The FOX kit just seems like the more versatile kit though.. tough call. Thanks for the update!

Yes, you can adjust the height of the Eibachs while they are on the truck. The kit comes with a spanner wrench.

If you haven't already, this thread is a good reference: https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/biggest-tires-no-lift.2458/

The consensus is that 265/70R-18 is the absolute max with factory wheel & no lift, but it also depends on how you're using the vehicle. If you go off-road and plan on flexing out the suspension you'll likely run into rubbing points. In that instance 265/65R-18 or 255/70R-18 would be considerations.

thanks for the reply and the link, my usage will be 99% on road and the 1% will be on a dirt road, no flexing no extreme off roading, I mainly want a look instead of a utility! (if that makes sens)

So for those sticking with stock rims...I've got the factory 17" and added 265 70 17 - these so far (just installed a few days ago) ride nice for me. Running Milestar Pantagonia MT's on my stock 17 rims. I also leveled with a 2 1/2" kit. I believe in the coming weeks or so I'll add some spacers onto the truck. Not 100% sure yet...as I may decide to save up for wheels instead...

I’m not 100% sure if this is the right place, but I don’t wanna create a thread for such a simple question.

I’ve decided what brand I want. And I’ve settled on a size (265/70-17).

My question is regarding whether or not my tire calculus is right or not.

The tires I’m targeting are either Load Range SL or E1. 98-99% of my driving falls firmly in the SL category. I figure I’ll tow a 5,000ish pound trailer 1-2% of the time. Maybe a tad more.

The load index of the SL tires at 115, so over 5,000 pounds of capability at max PSI. That’s more than the weight of the truck across four tires and the max tongue weight on the hitch.

So I ask, would SL tires with a 115 rating be enough for my use case or am I totally thinking about this wrong?

Looks great, I may copy this for my Tremor. Out of curiosity, did you need to cut/remove crashbars?

EDIT: Actually, I don't see Patagonia MT available in 275/70r17 size, sure on that size?

APOLOGIES - that is 265 70 17. My mistake. :( I'll be correcting my original post on this as well.

No, I didn't have to cut/remove the crash bars. I did level the truck 2.5".

I do plan to remove the crash bars though, as I may also get spacers 1.5". IF I do that, then I will cut them out.
