Just this week upgraded my XLT to a set of 265/70R17 from stock. I already had some 17 X8.5 25 offset wheels I had put on last year.
Once the new tires were put on, I noticed I'm getting rub at nearly full-full lock on the front crash bars, seemingly worse in reverse.
I'm getting a 2.5in front level within the next week and I'm wondering if that should clear this rubbing issue. I feel like I've seen differing posts regarding whether leveling alone will resolve this or if it's also an issue with the wheel offset.
Any answers are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Leveling will probably help, but if you don't want to level if you don't have to, you can try adjusting the crash bars first. First, you can take the plastic covers off that are held in with push pins to see if you get the clearance you need. If that doesn't work, you can loosen the bolts holding the crash bar in place first, and then wiggle them to angle them a little farther out. If that doesn't help either, then the next step will be to level.

I didn't experience any rubbing with the 265/70 until my 1.5 spacers and 2.5 level. I'd eliminate the rub if I removed the spacers. I believe you'd be fine at 25. if my math is correct you will be at 0.984 of an inch.

I am running the 265/70/18 and with my 2.5 level, I have no rubbing at all.

Got my wheels and tires put on yesterday!
275/55R20 on a 20x12 wheel with -44 offset
Rough country 2.5” level kit and crash bar delete, also had to take out the plastic crash absorbers behind the fender liners and minor plastic trimming to the fender flares. I’m looking into getting some bolt on fender flares and I won’t have any issues at all but for right now I have no running at full lock in either direction.

I originally ordered 33x12.5, called them back and decided to go smaller and I’m glad I did though. I think with the Rough country 3.5” level kit it would clear the 33’s with this offset. The 6” lift would clear 35’s all day long. I’m seeing these dudes in Thailand doing 35’s on XLTs with 22x14 wheels, I got a hold of someone over there and they claim they’re doing it on the Fox adjustable suspension life maxed out.

Has anyone tried a 265/75/R17 with a 2.5" RC lift? I currently have a 265/70/R17 with no rubbing. I had that tire size before the lift too.

turn your wheel so it's as close to the front crash bar and rear crash bar as possible and measure the distance.

then measure the height difference between your current and new tire and divide that by 2. if you're number is below that distance you measured, you should be fine.

the bigger issue is always wheel offset.

Ford Fox Leveling Kit (3" front)
285/70/17 Falken AT3's
Method 310's in 17x8.5 w/ 0 offset

I rub the lower most inch of the fender liner on the firewall side.

I removed the small lower air damn (FX4) in front of each tire next to the skid plate

I removed the crash bars (cut) and had no other issues.

I installed the BDS crash bars and rubbed both of the rear bars enough that i've removed them for now. I might try to enlarge the bolt holes to see if i can get an extra bit of movement rearward from them.

(I also added bushwacker oem smooth flares a few days later. PITA to install as bushwacker had a run of bad flares where the marker lights don't fit and new ones aren't expected for 45 days)

So I should be fine with 265/65/18 with RC 2.5 level?
I am not wanting to trim or cut anything from the wheel wells.

I am having the same issue with 285/75/16s. Wheels are 16x8 0 offset. What offset are your wheels? I'm wondering if switching to something like a +30 would fix the issue.

This is what I did to mine. Fox level kit. Fabtech crash bars, 17x8.5 KMC Summit wheels with 18mm offset, and 265/70r17 Nitto ridge grapplers. I originally was going to put 285/70r/17's on, thats why i did the crash bars. But I liked the look of the 265's better, No issues at all. Wheels stick out about 3/4 of an inch past the fenders. Ford performance tune and exhaust are next

Did you have to modify anything other than adding the leveling kit to fit those tires?

Was looking at the same tire size and using my factory 18” wheels.
