I see on my sticker the xlt has power tailgate lock, hopefully that means it has it on the remote as well.

It's just power lock, and unlock just like the doors. I don't think it has a separate button.

Wish it would auto release like my f150 does. But at least it locks from with the fob.

Just picked up my Ranger Lariat and and I press the lock button on the remote it locks up all the doors and the tailgate but when I press the unlock button it doesn't unlock the tailgate. Is this normal or it's a malfunction?

Tailgate unlock is 2 clicks of the Fob.

There is no hand sensor on the tailgate. I get in the Ranger 99% of the time by just opening (unlocking) one of the main doors. The tailgate unlocks as well that way. Never tested unlocking by the fob only. Will try mine when I get home. Drove the SLK today.
