About 6 years later, I'm at 103k. Only issue was the trans that died at 90k
4th set of tires (went to 33's almost immediately)
5th set of shocks ( used for testing)
2nd trans
2nd battery.
You can believe whatever you want to believe. But why not just have 1 shock that fits all? Sound kinda silly to waste money building a shock that works with and with our lift, and the same but only for stock.
I literally deal with this everyday.
I've only had the limp mode thing happen once, and that was towing a 4500 lbs travel trailer through the Mojave desert at about 115* up hills doing about 75-80. I've towed heavier in hot weather but, it was a car hauler, and I didn't push the truck has hard after that.
Bilstein 5100's will...
I have the Alpharex on my Ranger. Been pretty happy with them. Had a bubbling issue inside the lens about a year in, and they took care of it no problem with a new set.
Depends on how your using the truck and what your expectations are of the ride. Bilstein will be more supportive/sporty and Eibach will be a bit more comfortable.
I actually don't have Bilstein on my truck right now, but have driven a Ranger with the 6112/5160 and 5100's many times. My truck actually had 5100's on it all the way around once upon a time. It's run a lot of suspension set ups, as we use to use it for testing. Right now it has the Eibach...
They are actually pretty comfortable. You do feel a bit more of the road below 30, but if that doesn't bother you to much, they are worth the money and will last a long time.
He was actually planning to come down and get some measurements off my F-150, but he's just been really busy. I'm sure he'll make it happen when he has time. Hang in there 👍
@Fitzmotor Sorry if I missed it, but did you ever branch out to the F-150's yet? Love my Ranger one, and don't want to have the same problems with that transmission.
Thanks again for your great service.
We live in the middle of all of this, and so far have avoided all of it this time. At one point we had 3 different fires approaching us. We have gone through this before about 8 years ago, and it's not fun. Just need to get through the next few days. We do know a lot of people who have lost...
I have a 285/75R17 (34") on a method wheel in the stock location. Fits no problem.
I have the factory hitch, which is why it works. From what I understand if you have a aftermarket hitch , you will have issues fitting a large tire underneath.
Pro tip ..
These transmission like to have the center shaft from the trans slip out part way when you remove them. Before you install the trans, make sure the TC is seated all the way. If you find yourself installing the trans and the last 1/8" to 1/4 will not tighten, don't just crank it...
