Just picked up my Ranger Lariat and and I press the lock button on the remote it locks up all the doors and the tailgate but when I press the unlock button it doesn't unlock the tailgate. Is this normal or it's a malfunction?

Mine locks and unlocks doors/tailgate w/ push of the button once for each. Check if you hit unlock twice if it unlocks the tailgate. Also check settings>vehicle>locks submenus

Tailgate unlock is 2 clicks of the Fob.

Mine unlocks w/ one click. I think it's because I have settings>vehicle>lock>fob unlock> set to all doors instead of just driver.

By default it should be 2 clicks for passenger doors/tailgate. I too have that setting enabled.

Wish it would auto release like my f150 does. But at least it locks from with the fob.

That would be rough without some dampers.

That is correct. One of the main reasons I went with the 101A package (and for cruse control).
I do not listen to radio so have no opinion about the extra speakers.

Actually the 6 speaker option became standard some time around January-February along with a couple other things which were in the 101A package, with no reduction in price of the 101A.

A thief with any knowledge knows that with a locking tailgate with fob also locks tailgate; however, if thief unplugs the handy electrical plug underneath the rear of truck near the bumper, the gate lock is disabled. Takes only a few seconds. You still need an anti-theft deterrent at the tailgate hinge. The military grade aluminum Ranger tailgate is EXPENSIVE !

They still have to pick the lock. Unplugging harness DOES NOT unlock the tailgate.

I live in major metro area.

I've never once heard of somebody's tailgate being stolen.
