Didn't read it but a locker could help you on the boat ramp or for deep snow. It would not be helpful at all on ice.

I didn't think my question needed its own thread.
I bought 4x4 mainly for boat ramps and we get some snow, but mainly icy roads.
I'll probably never do serious off roading.
Should I have gotten the rear locker?

The locker is helpful in that scenario, and will usually negate the need for 4wd on the ramp. Not always though, depends on the conditions at the ramp and weight of the boat/trailer.
2wd w/o locker = less than ideal
2wd w/ locker = should do the trick
4wd w/o locker = take it slow, May still have some undesirable wheel spin
4wd w/ locker = you’ve got this!
