Absolutely, and I'm super jelly about that. It amazes me watching videos of some of the southern states and cars just sitting outside unprotected for decades that only have a little surface rust. If I lived in Arizona, I'd have a fleet of toy vehicles.
Jay, out here it not the vehicles you need to worry about falling apart. It's you that'll fall apart.:shock:

Oh ya, I'm not built for that. I don't wear a jacket most of the winter, and I work outside a lot. Last time I was in Vegas it was 105 when we landed at 11pm, hit 115 or something crazy during the day. It may have been a dry heat, but I was sweating so much I increased the humidity for the whole town.

Never owned a truck before so not sure of the protocol but is it okay to leave a hitch receiver in?
The one shown I’m actually going to use as a resistance band anchor for exercises (I travel to sites for workouts and train others).
I do have a locking pin for it to prevent theft.

i leave mine like that in but i park inside at night etc. if i use the tow ball drop i remove it right away. more so to protect my shins than protect from theft.

I don't care if it is a dry heat! When there are three digits in the temperature, it is too blasted HOT!
That's kind of how I feel about single digit weather. I don't care how many layers you put on it's friggin' cold! ?

This is my winter attire. ?

Also, with 35 years on the road, I have never been rear ended, and I spent 70+ hours a week on the road for 30 of those years.
Yeah… something ain’t adding up for those talking about repeatedly being rear-ended. I bet if that was my goal I could find a few with a heavy braking foot, but 1x an accident. 2-3x with a 4 year old truck…

edit: for those that have had this happen multiple times, do you find brake pads never last as long as you expect them to?

I will trade my local 95° with +95% humidity for that 120° dry heat any day. I used to have work trips to Yuma, AZ, when it's 115° out I was still comfortably pulling parts from the salvage yard. I just had 2 bottles of water with me and a case in the cooler in the rental car in the parking lot. I even wore long sleeve shirt (prevent burning my arm bumping it on the metal body of a car) and pants. Here in Eastern NC with the recent heat, I can't even work in the shade of my car port on my car without soaking all my cloths and sweat constantly running down my face into my eyes. The speedo does little to help here, still just pouring sweat. There is a whole lot to say about evaporative cooling in dry climates and the personal comfort there.

On the topic of the thread, I rarely leave it in when not in use. But my hitch is a WeighSafe, so it breaks down and fits perfect under the rear seat in the right cubby.

I think it all depends on the area(s) you drive. When I lived back east I rarely had to encounter the stuff I do here. I'm not lying when I say I see people blowing through red light several times a day here, weaving through 5 lanes of traffic to make their exit while they're going 80 mph and then there are those that are alway on their phones.mI know the phone part is common now but I see it everywhere here and I'd bet that's the main culprit for most rear end accidents.

Depends on the State. I know some have laws against leaving it in if not in use. Check your local laws on it. Even so, most LE won’t bother you for that alone.
I had no idea they had laws against this smh. I had one on my F150 for years. Like many others I had some lady smash her car into it and puncture her radiator. Saved my bumper from a scuff or two. She had one of those stupid-looking Acura sedans where the front end looks like a parrot beak. Went from looking like a parrot to an owl!

If you don't need it there for whatever time then simply remove it. I know it's a hard concept to grasp, but it's worth the extra minute when you have a place to store it

I either have a hitch in or a bump step in all the time. They have saved my bumper from no less than THREE rear ends by dumb kids on their cell phones while driving.

One ding dong rear ended me so hard that it imprinted his license plate number into my bump step.... no damage to the bumper!
Me too. Someone parked their car on my rear bumper while I was at a nearby store. Put in a bump step, and I plan on leaving it there until I need to tow something.
ok, I didn't pull ENTIRELY into my parking spot (did that hoping there wouldn't be a clod who pulls all the way up to my bumper... wrong)

That's not a bad idea.
