I’ll join the club; mine were replaced under warranty at just under 36k when I was in the dealer to buy out my lease and with an extended warranty. Which I suppose had some leverage in it.

The dealer said Ford denied my claim. Annoying thing is all they did was take pictures and kept my car all weekend and wouldn't return my calls.

Should I just take it to another dealer and try again or escalate the issue through another channel? My 5 year corrosion is up on June

Mines done the same, about an 1.5” of paint clipped out near the windshield. Did it around 50k.

I'd pursue this type of thing. Contact FordCares if necessary. It happened to my 2019 when it was a little over a year old and the dealer made it right. Like the blend door in the HVAC system the first year had some shoddy vendors.

I searched and didn’t see any threads on this. Has anyone else had the paint or tape, or whatever it is, come off your roof like this? It has come completely off on the passenger side and appears to be coming off on the driver side too.

I wash my car a lot so perhaps the car wash did it. If anyone has experienced this, how did you repair it?

There's several threads on this already. I merged them all so you can read about them.

Sorry this happened to you. It’s been reported by a few members. Not necessarily a chronic issue but there must have been a run of those trim pieces that didn’t get properly cleaned, primed, and painted - either by Ford or their supplier. Warranty treatment has been inconsistent as well. :(

I have been watching mine on the 22, I also apply wax to them, so I wonder if they are being ignored other than car wash (for the roof of the cab) for those that are peeling, and does it make any difference if you apply wax regularly?

Not real happy. Noticed this morning, clear corosion as you can see. Is this under warranty? Or options to fix? Truck is only four years old, should not be having these issues already.

Warranty replacement has been hit and miss on this issue for some of the folks on the forum who’ve experienced it. Because it’s inconsistent, it might have something to do with the way the dealer presents it to Ford. ?‍♂

If they’re able to get in honoured, it will save you having to drop the sides of the headliner to remove them so they can be sanded, primed, and re-painted.

It's not so much a rail. Mainly there as a decorative piece to cover up the weld where the roof skin is attached to the rest of the body.
In the old days, the roof joints were filled in with lead solder. Today, most car companies use a plastic band over the seam. Lead is still the preferred way to seal seams on a classic car project, but on an assembly line, using hot lead to fill in the lapped metal on 7-900 vehicles exposed workers to high levels of toxic fumes.

So I was washing and waxing my 20 xlt truck and saw the paint peeling off on the passenger side and on the driver's side the same piece is bubbling? So my question is I am out of warranty....but it's a paint issue so I think they will replace these pieces ? I have 38000 miles this shouldnt happen. Thoughts? Can I get this piece off sand it and paint it myself?

I have/had the same issue that you’re seeing. Noticed it a few years ago. Removed nearly the entire trim when install the Prinsu rack. I don’t understand why it happened either.

What do u mean " when install the Prinsun rack? How did u fix the problem? Does the lil square piece come off ? Is it separate from the whole black plastic piece?
