Hello everyone

So my air blend door gave out and I managed to replace the door motor without tearing apart the dash--really hoped not to take it in for broken panel service. It worked for about 2 weeks but the door bound up again and started grinding. Took it to the dealer who had the truck for 2 weeks.

I got it back with all of my aftermarket goodies torn out and tossed into a nest of wiring on the passenger floorboard--fine, they don't know how to put it back. 3+ broken panels that don't fit correctly and looks like they took my truck apart with a 2x4 with nails in it as their prybar. They will replace those panels, probably with more broken clips. The center console trim where it meets up with the dash has gaps I can put my finger through.

Just noticed tonight that my AC now makes a loud continuous hissing sound whenever it's on so I assume they'll be tearing apart my dash again. I am so frustrated that I might sell my truck for something new and unmolested. I know this might not sound like the most logical solution--but having a new truck with broken panels and rattles is really saddening to me.

Anyone have a similar issue?

forgot to mention document every single thing they damaged, pictures notes etc. asap. next time dont even leave the dealership with the truck next time. once it is driven out of the dealer they will blame everything on you . when i took my older ranger to the dealer for the airbag recalls they screwed up panels broke clips etc. i called to ask them to fix it and they said i damaged stuff after i left. dont bother with lawyers etc. unless your very wealthy. ford and its dealers have no fear at all of legal issues.

Depends on where you live. Our local ford service dept is amazing.

the very worst part about owning a ford is hands down ford service centers at any ford dealer... good luck.

too late now but always take pre work pictures when facing interior work, before and after pics can help. Also not a bad idea to forewarn the dealer that you want a competent/experienced tech doing the work as it's not for the inexperienced.

I've never dealt with an interior tearout amd certainly wouldn't want to. But this seems like a very smart plan.

They'll just nod at you in agreement then laugh at you once you're out the door.

That really sucks Joseph - this is the third “blend door” incident I’ve read about on here. I think they have all been 2019 models.

Do you know if all our Rangers have this “blend door” or if it’s part of a dual zone climate control system?

I have a very basic XLT package with a single dial for temp control for the whole cab. I’m wondering if I dodged a bullet by keeping it simple or if there is something I should be watching out for.

If the dealer won't make it right, call Ford Customer Care at (800) 392-3673.

What was found to be the cause on that for you? On my way home from ViR Sunday I started getting a hissing noise from the AC, but I cycled it off and on and it appeared to stop. I didn't get the trailer disconnected until last night and last night while driving there was no AC at all and the hissing noise is there any time the AC is on. Appointment with them is over a week out.

I got no codes on Forscan lite on my phone. I read though the Climate controls symptom trouble shooting, it mentions hissing noise from the plenum can be caused by low refrigerate.

Took my dealer 6 days to get mine fixed. That's with it sitting in the parking lot all day the day work was supposed to start and the tech being called off my truck to do other jobs 2-3 days. That being said...I got it back and it looks like it did when I dropped it off...except all is working.

They replaced the entire HVAC box. Dash and center console removed. Problem my truck exhibited was..only hot air would come out of the driver side vents. Passenger side was fully adjustable and worked. Drivers side nothing but hot air even with AC on.

I think they forgot to crimp the connections on the AC lines. After a while, the hissing stopped when the AC system seemed to run out refrigerant and couldn't produce any more cold air.
