It seems the filter screen mesh is different on the FL-400S too, 80 microns @20UM vs 50 microns @ 35 UM for the 910S.
Would that go hand-in-hand with the psi relief rating being higher as well ?

80 microns will catch smaller contaminants then 50 microns, but that seems also like more resistance to the oil flow, and increased work for the oil pump.
But is the increased resistance enough to be significant ?

I do want to replace those plastic anchors and screws though. Most of them no longer hold, the screws can just be pushed in without turning, and when removing with a Phillips screwdriver, they just turn but don't unscrew.

I'm surprised that some haven't just fallen out.
I read where some have replaced them with something better. Anyone that has replaced them care to share what you used ?
I got this 6 pack of magnets on Amazon, used 3, been holding on for 6 months so far.

I have one of those magnets for gold prospecting, to separate any iron that might be near your target. They are strongass magnets for sure. The magnet I bought is an inch diameter and an inch long, and it hard to remove from any metallic object it gets near.

Any concerns over strong magnets being near the engine electronics ?

Not sure about pump stress but it is a 2.3 that already holds 6.2 quarts of oil. That is more than my GM 6.0 sitting in the driveway. I think it has enough already - IMO. I am going to try to stick with what the truck calls for - especially with the extra stress from the tune on it. I want it to run for a bit without surprise inspection windows.

For use in the wheel well? Nah you're fine.

I really don't understand the reasoning behind fitting a larger than factory equipped filter lol.

If the factory equipped filter is filtering out enough crap during its lifespan to necessitate a larger one.... your motors probably fucked ?‍♀

You need to go back and double check your information. First the information should read 80% @ 20 microns and 50% @ 35 microns. Second that is from a forum post from a while ago that could not be verified. Third the latest info I could find was both filters are 80% @ 20 microns and supposedly tested by Amsoil at 94% @ 20 microns. Ford does not publish the specs so anything is third party at best and improvements are always being made to the filter media.
Just on case you don’t know a micron is one thousandth of a millimeter or
.00003937 inch

Well, can anything really be verified concerning this data since it's third party at best ?
Why are we even discussing it at all if the data is supposition ?

I only got the 400s because the 910S wasn't available (unless I wanted to pay twice as much at the dealership). Had I seen the 910S I would have bought it instead.
I was trying to be helpful letting others know of options if the 910S wasn't in stock, and we might be seeing a lot of bare shelves soon.

I have run the 400S filter in my truck since the first oil change. I just add a bit more oil at oil changes. 65k later, no issues.

I would run a FL1A if I could. Then I could buy filters in bulk, so I can use the same for all my trucks.

Here’s a data sheet for the WIX version of the FL910S

shows a nominal value of 21 microns

Same. Have the 400 on there now since the local Walmart doesn't seem to ever have the 910 in stock anymore. The price sticker is there, just never any product. ?

I have been using the Supertech ST3614, seems to hold up well for my 3k-5k oil change intervals. Hopefully I am not making a mistake by going so cheap.
