I had issues with my Ford App when I was caught in the Sync 3 update loop a few months ago. After getting Sync 3 updated to the latest version everything worked as intended. Check into your version of Sync 3 and update as needed.

What an incredibly inconsistent system - everyone having a different experience is just plain goofy.

I have never updated my Sync3 (not sure what I might be missing out on) and the app works just fine, every time I use it. ?‍♂

I had the same problem... it turned out the modem was not activated. I pulled the #9 fuse and then replaced it and the modem started to again show up in the system.

I did all the resets and other stuff, and none worked, but came across this #9 fuse in a previous post.

I agree with this....it is definitely goofy.

The app (Android) for me anyways has been. questionable...even after a clearing of cache and storage along with an uninstall and reinstall of the app.

I can only keep my features alive such as remote start by opening the app --> vehicle and then swiping down to reload the screen (spinning circular arrow icon) which should then connect and pull accurate data from my truck such as mileage and fuel DTE...and then I can go back to the home screen and remote start the vehicle.

Same with scheduled starts...even though my last scheduled start is still shows within the app which I can toggle on and off....it won't start unless I open that scheduled start and reselect the scheduled start time and then go back and toggle the start on and then click save.

Nice UI app but for me anyways very buggy and not user friendly...I could definitely see why people would give up on using it.

On the other hand it's a non subscription service I don't have to pay for ....so I just deal with the inconvenience as long as I can still get it to work.

I pulled fuse #9 inside the cabin and with a volt ohm meter I verified the fuse was good. I reinstalled it and rechecked with no success. I cursed a few times and went onto my appointment. At a stop light I rechecked to see if the modem was still offline and much to my surprise it was showing active. So I pulled up the app and everything is working again with no loss in information Looks like it must have crashed and locked it up.

This is what I experienced.

I'm at the point where I have to buy my map update. After I installed the latest version of Sync 3, I was able to update maps using my WiFi. Everything else works fine.

I don’t have navigation (small, non-touchscreen) so I guess I’m not missing out on anything, afterall. ?

  • Anti-mouse wire induction harmonics
  • Real-time Damper monitoring
  • Auto bed-height correction
  • Anti-jerk driveshaft digital balancing
  • 15% mileage increase (recovers fuel in oil)
  • year supply of Tipalet cigarillos for centre console "pencil" holder

Man up, udpate Sync! =p

I am the same as you Duke. I have never updated my sync 3 ever. I have never had a problem with it not working. I will have to remember the #9 fuse for future reference.

My XL has no maps and I don't need no stinkin' maps! =D

And I never get lost! =D

granted, keeping the bubble level right with the world can be challenging in the Ranger ...

You forgot the last part - do the hokey-pokey and turn yourself around. ;)
Imagine if the engineers just put a reset connection button in the ford pass app screen instead of the back door secret method.
