Is a 10,000 mile oil change interval ideal for the 2.3L?

I can't hardly believe some of these videos, people can't be that stupid or ignorant, can they? I hope these people don't vote...
Be afraid, very afraid...as mentioned before...we drive with these people...and if they don't vote, someone will vote for them...even after they're dead...at least twice...

NO, 10,000 miles is too long! Manufacturers recommend long oil changes to appease eco-freak tree huggers, and they really do want you to buy a new truck sometime soon, so if yours lasts longer, that cuts into profits. This is a turbocharged direct injection vehicle. For God sakes change the oil at least at 5000 miles but even better 3000-3500 miles as the oil can get very dirty and diluted in these types of engines and can increase the likelihood of LSPI among other issues. Use a good synthetic oil, one that is formulated against LSPI, and don't be cheap and change it often. I am sure people will come on here and disagree with me, quote their Blackstone (such a racket IMHO) oil analysis pages, etc. and I will ignore them. A clean engine is a happy engine. Anyone who has built engines, raced them, etc. will know this.

But hasn't the efficiency in motor oil improved?

I've always heard 10,000 miles but if it's just fake propaganda to appease the hippies then I want to know the truth.

I came up in the era when there was a service station on every corner, like those paintings you see in souvenir shops and mom & pop diners. Oil changes were done at 12-1,500 miles. Kendall was a premium brand and boasted they were the 2,000 mile oil. My dad had Kendall put in our '58 Chev before we left on a 2,300 mile trip to California. It's hard for me to accept 10k change intervals still but I'm creeping up to it!

I get the Quick Lane Works Package every 6,000 miles on the Ranger, the Mariner is the short trip shopping cart, and she gets an oil & filter change every 3k miles, and a Works Package every 6k.

Something I noticed while looking for a Kendall photo to drag, the little vehicle graphics on the bottom of the can had changed; probably after WWII?

Yeah, that's another factor. Generational norms vs present day facts. I grew up hearing every 3000 miles. Then it was every 5k and now every 8-10k.

"Full synthetic oil has come a long way."
"This ain't your granpa's motor oil."

So on and so forth.

Having seen a few late model BMW and Lexus engines that were torn down for repairs at a little over 100k miles and having documented oil changes at the recommended 10k mile intervals at the dealer service center, I'll keep my intervals at 5k or under please.

AND ARE THEY REALLY CHANGING THE OIL AT ALL? MY DEALERSHIP USED TO HAVE A DEDICATED OIL CHANGE LANE WHERE THE CUSTOMER COULD WATCH WHAT THEY ARE DOING, SINCE NEW OWNERS TOOK OVER ED LEARN FORD, THAT'S NO LONGER THE CASE..SNEAKY BASTARDS

I use full synthetic and change every 5k because 1) turbocharger and 2) direct injection tends to leave fuel in the oil, although I don’t do short trips which seems to exacerbate the problem.

For warranty purposes at every oil change I take a pic of the receipt, oil and filter, and the odometer and upload them to my Dropbox.

In that way you will contaminated your engine / lifetime …. Ford engines are tested with a specific and unique motorcraft oil type …. This is why some engines last 100k miles and others 400k miles …

Not even remotely true. Brand is basically irrelevant. You can use any major oil supplier as long as the oil is the correct viscosity and satisfies the Ford oil spec. You can use a different brand every oil change if you want and it won't make a single difference.

6,000mi Quick Lane Works package, incl rotate tires, fluid ck/topup, 5w30 semi synthetic Motorcraft. The 2009 Mariner gets an oil change with semi synthetic every 3,000, Works pkg every other. Lots of 1-5 mi trips in this one. The Oil Life Monitor never goes below ~20% on either vehicle.

Ford says 10k, I use full synthetic, use not abuse, I think I'm good.

Really, 10k to appease tree huggers??? How so?..
