I dropped my truck off at the dealership last week. They ran all of their tests. They called Ford Tech support and gave their findings. They were advised by Ford that there is no specs as to how much fuel is acceptable to be in the oil. I asked about it damaging the engine by being over full and contaminated with fuel in the oil. The manager of the service department said that I still have plenty of power train warranty and to not not worry.

I called Ford customer care again and was told that if it were his vehicle he would get a second opinion from a different dealership.

Gotta say I am disappointed that we keep getting the run around and have to do without the vehicle that payments are being made on. They act like our time and money don’t amount to shit, except when we are purchasing a vehicle

So FORD (not the dealership mind you because the tech's send all this in to hotline) tells you they have no specs for how much fuel can be in the oil and so they tell you to go get a second opinion?? NEws flash FORD... It was you telling us its working as normal NOT the dealership. I work at a dealership and when I brought mine in the tech showed me all the responses from FORD hotline and they basically told him the truck was operating as intended and no work needed to be done because it wasn't showing any signs of lean/rich conditions from the fuel and the injectors weren't leaking and blah blah blah with all the tests they had him do. So why would it be beneficial to get a second opinion when it is coming from FORD not the service department. That makes no sense.

The only second opinion that would make any sense is taking it to an independent shop and having them diagnosis and coming to a conclusion without getting input from FORD for warranty puproses.

Hello! New to the forum, so I’ve been browsing around. For the guys trying to find a correlation on this issue. I just got a 2019 xlt a few months ago, I’m at around 1400 miles, February 19 build date. Sadly I didn’t check oil level upon receiving truck but as of today it is right below the top fill line which seems fine, but I also have noticed that it absolutely reeks of gas. I do semi short trips to and from work (10-12 miles), but this has never been an issue with my other vehicles (09 ranger xlt 4.0, 14 challenger rt 5.7). I’m curious to see what you guys come up with. Thinking of going to the dealer next week to get everything checked on.

Mine did the same thing..... don't worry about the gas smell. It takes a while for the motor to break in the rings, so you'll have that gas smell.

That was my experience. After the first few hundred miles all was fine.

If it isn't above the top hole I wouldn't worry at all, everything is fine. Now for those of us getting oil above the twist on the dipstick in just a few hundred miles, there is definitely something to be concerned about...

I'd put 3 or 4 thousand on it an do an oil change then check the oil for fuel odor. I had it at first an did an oil change at 3,500 miles an it seems fine at 6,500 miles. I hope it was just the rings needing to break in. I'm going to do the second oil change in 2 thousand miles with 5 K on it an do an oil analysis to check the fuel % in the oil.

Update on mine:
Changed the oil @4800 miles. Took out just a hair more than 6.2q and it didn't smell as strongly of fuel as the dipstick/filler cap did. Put 6.2q full synthetic back in and it's just below the top of the hashmarks.

I'll keep an eye on it but doesn't look like an issue any longer and I can't smell fuel at the front grille after turning the truck off like I used to.

Latest update:

Taking truck in July 3rd. Has been im no at 2,900 miles on the truck.

1938 high pressure fuel pump changed
2138 level checks same as set by dealer(200 miles)
2368 level checks at bottom edge of overfull hole(430 miles)
2622 level checks at top edge of overfull hole(684 miles)
2791 level checks halfway between overfull hole and bottom of twist(853 miles)
2900 level checks about 1/8" higher then previous check.(962 miles)
Taking in on July 3rd.

When i talked with service this morning, he just stated he dont know what they are going to do, they are all overfull. Apparently there are no several people with the issue at my dealership. So they will make the appointment and see what Ford says to do. I just said okay, see ya then, as i could feel his frustration.

So will update you all after my service appointment. This Sucks!. Really wish Ford would fix this.

Sorry for the delay. I started off with the Apollo GT but thought it was too loud so I added a 3 inch flow through Magnaflow. I would overfill the catch can in about 500 miles and now I'm going 1000 with minimal. It doesn't smell like raw fuel anymore. I'll post the pics below. I used the Rotella gas truck 5w-30 that I found at Menards. I recently added a tune from Unleashed that I highly recommend. Great tunes and it has to be the best customer service that I've ever experienced. I'll update the results after some mileage with that. There's a good possibility I'm missing something, but that's where I'm at.

That's just awesome! I really wonder which changes actually did that for you. Did you tune it before or after the change in what your catch can was capturing?

Just got my truck back from the dealer, they applied a TSB for the truck running rough at cold start idle, but according to their notes that didn't do anything. So they went ahead and replaced all 4 injectors, and now it runs great, including at cold idle. Fingers crossed that this also fixed the fuel dilution issue. Just changed the oil today, so we'll see. 3rd oil change in the last 2000 miles?

Hope this works but here is my 2nd oil analysis from Blackstone. My fuel dilution went down considerably. After the first time taking it in and the tech running all kinds of checks and test and Ford coming back saying it was normal I just said "F" it. Reloaded my Unleashed 93 Octane tune and switched to Penzoil Platinum 5w30 FS and K&N oil filter and I'm changing at about 5k intervals.

So the only thing I've changed is I have started driving it a little harder and my commute has gotten a tad further. And with the Covid stuff I haven't been going out much so no short trips like I had been. Im just going to keep doing what I have been doing and not worrying about it so much. Doesn't seem to be effecting the motor so far. Time will tell I guess.
