Since I know you are new to the Ranger, I will say I wish I messed with Forscan when I first got my Ranger in 2021 lol. Really helps make it just the way you want it.

I can see why, there are some nice-looking customizations to be made in the software. Two of the settings that caught my eye were the "Corner Light Mode for Fog Lights" and "Bambi Mode".
The truck's configuration makes it rather difficult to see around dark mountain curves or spot animals in the brush.

Seconded bambi mode. I've had it on since I found it in FORScan. That extra light on dark backroads at night is hard to impress the importance of. It's so great. It does (at least for me) make the auto-highbeams a little wonky sometimes, but that's easy enough to override if it's a problem.

I was thinking about doing that one day due to the narrow light output from the halogens, but the new LED lights cast a very wide output, about as wide as the DD Elite fog lights. even the high beens have a very wide pattern to them.

I tried LEDs in the halogen housings, not a fan. They're far too scattered and blind everyone and I hated the lack of any cutoff they had. That said, I upgraded to the Alpharex housings when they released and their cutoff and pattern is really good, almost 4 years in and still one of my favorite upgrades.

I'm interested to see how Ford improved them on the 6th gens, there was so much room for improvement.

If I'm not mistaken, DOT requires some sort of front side marker light on vehicles. It's up to the vehicle manufacturer on how to implement that. I remember my old 1993 Pathfinder, 1990 S15 and my Grandpa's 1993 F150 having them septic the Headlights, but that was then.

That said I also remember the Ranger having the front side markers on the fenders as well.

I do agree, that's my one gripe about them, their color is off too comparatively. I thought about taking bulbs out of my fender markers but alas.

Yes, DOT requires the vehicle to have them, does not have to be in the light housing, but if the OE light has it there aftermarket in most cases should too, unless they include a remote mounted side marker in their kit. AlphaRex when I called about that incorrectly stated that DOT requires them to put it in the light housing, but DOT doesn't care so much about the individual parts, and more about the vehicle as a whole meeting the requirements. But, they can count me as a lost sale now that I did buy a different LED headlight.

It probably has something to do with they don't have to design a whole new pcb if they include it on every model they sell...

Thinking out loud maybe they have a single board and they program the i/o based on the vehicle and specific leds in each housing... Would make sense from a manufacturing stand point, at that point it's just programming it a little different...

I'm completely new to Forscan. Just ordered a cable and I"m going to play around with my '21 STX and my wife's '21 Bronco Sport as soon as it gets here. There's one thing I'd reeeeeally like to change but can't find a setting for anywhere. The excessively loud notification chime when using the Sirius XM favorite artist or song notification. Is there a way to keep the notification but mute it? My wife uses it heavily but it's banned in my truck because it's so distracting.

Hmm, I am not sure if this would tie in, but does the Bronco have Navigation?
You can adjust the (Navigation) Voice prompts when she is speaking (Turn Volume - Down) while she is speaking.
This should also be the case for (Voice Recognition) feedback prompts, when the Prompt is replying to your request (Play?) then turn the volume knob down, this will only adjust the volume level of that prompt.

Hmm, I am not sure if this would tie in, but does the Bronco have Navigation?

This should also be the case for (Voice Recognition) feedback prompts, when the Prompt is replying to your request (Play?) then turn the volume knob down, this will only adjust the volume level of that prompt.

The Bronco has nav but my Ranger doesn't. I guess it's worth stalking for that prompt and turning the volume down, I don't think we've tried that before.

OK so now I have the cable, installed Forscan, and I can't make any changes. Any change I try to write causes error "service procedure has been interrupted."

Forscan 2.3.65 with trial extended license (is that the problem? is the trial restricted to read-only?)

Tried with several different changes including panic activation, auto stop, and hyper blink, in both GUI and as-built mode.

Godiag GD101 with latest drivers installed from their website. Bought this cable because it does both J2534 and EDM327. Same error in either mode.

Any thoughts?
