Your USB communication settings? No you won't loose those.
Are there other settings that I'm forgetting about?

A few minutes ago I remembered that my brother and I were having a similar problem. I have a keyless ignition so this doesn't apply, but he had his key in the "run" or "on" position when it should have been in the other position instead. We had a good laugh over that.

Maybe your key was in the wrong position.

Edited:
Ah, your previous changes you made to your Ranger? No, they are there until you change them back.

Ok thanks and my truck does not have a key. I’m not really up on forscan so a bit hesitant on doing stuff I’m not aware of. I did the usual stuff.
now that I’m thinking about it, I used a different labtop before and since then it decided to die. So I have a new one now, anything else I should be aware of?
another dumb question how do you delete the profile?

Click on the Profiles tab in Forscan, click on the profile for your truck. Then click on the trashcan at the bottom left of the screen.

Do this profile delete with the truck hooked up to the forscan program?

You have to connect to the truck via the OBDII cable and Forscan will automatically suggest a new profile which you accept.

I still get the same message.

It looks like you will need to get that number off of your Powertrain Control Module (PCM) in the truck. It will take a lot of removing other components to get to it, though. Contacting your tuner to get the tuner strategy name would be easier.

if it is tuned go back to stock tune, make your forscan changes then reload your tune

I’ll email Torrie to see if he can help me. Thanks Bob
I have one of Torries tunes in my truck and have no trouble connecting With forscan. But like the other guy said. Flash it back stock or look at your file and get the strategy code and put it in. Make your changes and reflash tune. It's really that simple.

Some notes on this - IDK if it will help.
1. Are you trying to connect with truck running or (Key On Engine Off) - Try KOEO
2. When Forscan pops up with a message about (Switching MS and HS Can) what are you clicking?

3. Have you tried another scan tool?
4. Have you tried pulling the information from the (Tuner) Device - I do not have a tune so not sure what it will display - but I would suspect the data should be on it.
5. It may be easier to just pull the (BJB) out of the way and get the information directly from the PCM Data Tag

The bottom line is - Forscan cannot read the VIN #.
