Body up. IMO it reduces road grime saturation on top of the body. Add boots to also reduce road grime.

My Ford Performance Fox 2.0 rears did say specifically to mount body-down.

There’s pros and cons to both mounting orientations. I tend to follow what the manufactures say though.

The issue is this: I called Fox and they tech recommend body up to protect the single wall tube. I know what the directions say, Body down results in holding debris on top of the shock body. This could result in the early demise of the seal.

Do these work on 17 inch rims? I thought I read only 18 but that maybe a mistake on my part.

I mounted mine body down as instructed and 15k miles later the shock body is pretty rough looking so that tech probably has a good point.

Now I have to check mine as these are single wall so dents will create possible issues.

I do NOT have the Fox shocks on my truck but if the instructions say body down then mount them body down. Now yes there is a risk of having them dented when going off road or if something on the road comes up and hits them. If you are only on the strret yoy should be fine for the most part. If off road I would say just take it slow and the risk of denting the shocks will be minimal.

I used to have Bilstein 4600 on my 2016 Frontier and I never had a problem with them and that was on the street for close to 75,000 miles. If they were able to make it that far then you should be fine.

Also im not sure if California is one of those states but if salt is put on the roads in your cold seasons(below 70°F LOL) then I would suggest giving the chassis a good rinse here and there to help minimize rust and corrosion.

Hello! hope everyone is good. Question on the installing of the fox 2.0. when replacing the axel nut do you have to make an indentation to keep it in place? Thank you for your input! have a good day

Hi Jay,

The nut is already torque prevailing which means you do not have to stake it in place. Just torque to the value specified which is over 200 ft lbs. I thought I read 207 ft lbs, but my old memory is not what it was... Most folks do not have a torque wrench of the size needed for this, so hopefully an auto parts store will loan you the wrench if you do not have the capability.

Thanks for clarifying that for me. I followed the mountune video which had the torque specs. Just didnt want to make sure I dont make a newbie mistake and have my wheels fly off lol. Have a good day gents!
