I did the Gator EFX and had the same issue. It goes on, but not as easy as it would appear. Once on and tightened everything was good.

Love the lockable storage and no leaks!

Well I called BakFlip and it turns out that the 2020 Ranger needs some additional pieces to install the MX4. After reviewing the instructions they emailed me it was obvious that this extra stuff is needed. They sent the parts out today. Very good customer service.

Very cool! I got a deal on a pop-in bed liner (dealer friend price) and wasn't sure how I was going to get it home. So they installed it, which of course made installing the cover that much more FUN. Should have done that in reverse order. But I got it installed in twice the allotted time.

I did the Leer, and like the fact that the brake light is exposed. But in full disclosure it is only PARTLY exposed on the Ranger. You can probably see the glow from it, the light itself is not completely visible from the rear, and probably less visible from a smaller car.

I am very happy with it, though, and would still choose the Leer.

Do you have a bedrug Berliner installed too? Looked like it from your pic, but wasn’t sure. I’m looking at hard tonneau’s, but need it to work with the bedrug without cutting it. Got the Gator EFX but would need to cut the bedrug.

Figured I’d just add to this thread versus starting new since OP bought a cover ?.

Has anyone installed a hard folding tonneau cover with a Bedrug installed? I got the Gator EFX but it requires four brackets in addition to the clamps that attach to the bed rails. If I install the brackets I would need to cut the Bedrug a good amount which I want to avoid doing so hoping there’s a hard folding that only needs the clamps. Appreciate any help!

I do and love it. I installed them the same day so to not get the bedrug dirty prior to buttoning it up. I did poke holes in the rug in order to mount the tie down hooks on the outside of the rug.

I paid 600 dollars. Made an apointment with installer and it took about 3 hours. Lifetime warranty. When first posted here about getting Rhinoliner I was flamed and called out how terrible they are but going on 4 years now mines in perfect shape. Line X is another brand well reputed.

Keep meaning to ask how the grip is with your Rhinoliner?

The grip is great but its usually covered with a bed rug and Con Agra tri fold aluminum top like this

Bought the ford version, which I believe is an overpriced bakflip g2. Bought it at the time because of a promotion for 500 dollars credit towards accessories. Its good quality and i like that it came with drain plugs with pre-cut holes for the drain tube.I would say any of the options you have there are great options. I would pay attention to a few things if I were you.

1. Does it have the flap that allows you to close the tailgate while the cover is locked? It's a minor annoyance on mine but would be nice.
2. Make sure whatever cover you choose allows full bed access. Not only comes in handy for loading and emptying but also for cleaning the bed out.
3. The coating should be durable enough to resist scratches. I would find it pretty difficu,t to dent one of these things, but scratches would be easier on mine than a bedliner Coating.
4. I wouldn't rule out the rolling hard covers. As those allow you to see out the back while fully rolled up. They might take up a bit more space horizontally when rolled fully up if that matters to you.
5. Choose whichever one fits your budget and looks best to your eye. The tougher coatings typically have a duller appearance than the others which are more glossy. The roll ups I believe are typically a little duller appearing too.

Cole, now that you've had this a while do you still like it/recommend it? I'm going to have the dealer instal one for me on my new truck because I don't have time to do it once I get back from picking it up in WA. There's no shops close to me and the temps are already at 100 and I'm not messing with it in this heat. Also the picture on the Ford accessory site shows it as a 4 fold is that right? I always thought the 5' beds had a Trish fold but these look like smaller panels. From the Bakflip site it looks to be this one here as the others are either more expensive and have a heavier # rating.

It’s been a fine cover and is holding up pretty well, there are a few tiny chips off the finish on top and that’s really the only cosmetic issues with it. It is more of a glossy finish rather than matte or bedliner.
It’s weatherproofing is pretty solid, but the tailgate let’s in a lot at the edges ( not the covers fault). One thing some of the other after market ones offer is the ability to close the tailgate without lifting the cover. This one you just have to pop open the cover a little then close the tailgate. The grocery pickup girl at Target closed mine without doing that once so now weatherstripping is a little messed up aesthetically.
As far as the weight rating I put light things on top of this occasionally for a few minutes but I wouldn’t do anything too heavy, that 300 lbs rating is if laying something across the whole bed. On the Diamondback I’d throw everything up there.
All in all I am happy with it. I’ve considered getting a Diamondback instead, but it is very handy to be able to open the whole bed up easily. The rolling hard type is also nice because it wouldn’t cover your back window when fully open, but I personally don’t like the finish on the top of that cover as much.
As far as install, I can’t blame you for not wanting to mess with that! It’s pretty easy but somewhat time consuming if you’re a perfectionist trying to get it lined up just so.
Also, so sorry that lady hit you and ruined your last truck! I’m glad insurance is handling it and it’s all getting worked out.

I like my Ford branded Bakflip except it rattles. You can’t really hear it unless the window is open. Not bad but noticeable. The thieves have figured out how to slide a pry bar between the top of tailgate and cover to hit the latch release cable. They got away with my Z snow chains. Left small scar on the tailgate top moulding. I haven’t a fix for it yet.

If you store tools or expensive things in the bed then I recommend a retractable option. They’re expensive but the most secure.

Thanks Cole. It's a misfortunate incident but will hopefully be done and over with this week. Thanks for the detailed review it helps me in my decision. I really never put things (or have ever wanted to) on top to the weight rating isn't a huge concern. Even staking it up against the rear window isn't a big deal as I've rarely had the need to do this (have access to the whole bed) while driving. If I ever do I'm good with using just mirror backing up as I've had many work vans with no side or rear windows. As long as the mechanics of it are still good after using it this long and there's no issues I think I'll stick with getting this one simply out of convince right now. He said they'd instal it for $100 which is a no brainer for me trying to mess with this once home in 100* heat and my OCD. lol
