I do have the tow package but only the 4 wire plug. It has the towing button on the console.. As I said I just want to add the 7 pin plug. And have trailer braking available..
The part number that was posted from for also said it’s not compatible..As I said I have the control module behind the glove box.

But does it have the hitch reliever (square) at the bumper or do you only have a hitch ball cutout in the bumper?
That Tow/Haul switch means nothing to the Tow Package- all Rangers have it.

Ok - tow guys confirm but he is still limited to 3500 lbs - correct, this is why there is not a 4/7 - Thus Non Tow Package

So I have the tow package 1? With the tow package 2 you get the hitch and the brake controller including the 7 pin connector in the bumper

As I posted above- for some reason, Ford lists it as effective for 2022-2023 only for 2019-2021 it directs to the TRM. It appears to be on Backorder or Out of Stock throwing a wrench into getting it.

No , Ford I believe is calling Tow Pack 1 , a ref to - Non Tow Package, as you can tow with every Ranger, just limited to 3500 lbs with the tow package adds the receiver / 4/7 pin plug only.
The TBC is not included from factory it has always been dealer or self installed (considered aftermarket)

You can, I had the same arrangement with my 2019 and added the wiring harness, Draw-tite hitch receiver, 7/4 pin connector in the bumper, and the Ford brake controller. The parts I used are in my reply to someone above this one. You shouldn't have any issues.

My wiring harness contained the backup sensors in the bumper. There is another harness part number if you don't have the sensors.

If he adds the parts I listed earlier plus a hitch receiver, he can tow 7500 lbs (or up to his receiver rating).

No, the brake controller was not included with the tow package but you do get the 7 pin connector.

A lot of confusion here. First I have never heard of tow package 1 or tow package 2, just with or without tow package.

All 5G Rangers have the tow/haul switch, the anti-sway setting in the IPC, the tailer blind spot settings in the IPC and the 4 pin connector. They are limited to tow 3500#, because that is all the bumper is rated for.

With the tow package gets you the, I believe a class 4, receiver hitch and the 7/4 pin connector. I have heard rumors that the front axles on 4X4s are also different, but I cannot confirm. The tow package increases the tow rating to 7500#. This is because of the frame mounted receiver hitch. There are no other drive train/chassis changes. A brake controller is not included.

What this means is you can install the 7/4 pin harness along with an aftermarket receiver hitch and a trailer brake controller and be rated to tow what ever the hitch is rated for up to the 7500# rating of the truck.

One last thing, I beleive the Ford recommends the trailers without brakes be limited to 1650# and I know that state regulations vary, but some are as low as 2000#. So, even the bumper hitch requires them.
