...They listed it as having the technology package. I could clearly see by the photos that it did not. They said it did when I called. ...
When I was looking at used Frontier Pro4X models, about 90% of the ones listed as a Pro4X were NOT a Pro4X. No rear locker = no Pro4X.

Several of them did have the Pro4X sticker on the bedside and the egregious ones still had SV 4x4 on the tailgate.

Someone who knows what they are looking for will catch this kind of advertising "mistake", but those who don't likely won't until it's too late to do anything about it.

Edit: Prime example. This is NOT a Pro4X trim Frontier. It's an SV with the SV badges removed from the tailgate.

Frontier Pro4X For Sale

And another one where they added the Pro4X stickers but forgot to remove the SV 4x4 badge from the tailgate.

Tried get a local dealer to match the 36k carvana offer on my 2019 so I could trade into a 2021. Denied, they held firm at 31k. I’ll try a couple more local dealers I suppose and if they all stay around that I’ll move on. Taxes here suck and I need to trade to soften the blow on the new purchase.

Your credit is too good for Carvana. They want you to finance using their 20% rate so they can make back all the money they're shelling out.
Ahh, so that is their angle. I was wondering how they were making these outlandish offers. When you’re the bank, money gets plentiful.

Are you against capitalism or you just have a special place for apples?
Not at all....it's just a little sad with a mom an pop business that's been in place for 50 plus years goes away. Just like all the old store front shops closing because people buy stuff without seeing it first one on line on Amazon.

I do like Apples...changed from android about 2 years ago...mostly because I hate the communist bastards at Google an try to avoid interfacing with them when I can.

I guess they paid mom and pop plenty. Or more likely, their kids.

The city I work in has gone through massive growth since I started there in 98. The population is 5 times what it was when I started. There were many family farms an as soon as the parents kicked off the kids went running to the developers to cash out.

I know two fairly large business owners in Avon Oh who have told me their kids want nothing to do with taking over the family business. One is willoway nurseries an it's a struggle to keep employees. At $100K an acre for land there I'm sure the land will sell for a ton.

The parents worked a lifetime building something hoping to pass it on to their kids an they just want to cash out an run.

In the big picture the Carvana probably created more jobs than the orchard offered too but there's no character in a giant building

The family run apple orchard I grew up next to got a fungus from some new apple varieties they planted. The fungus spread throughout the orchard and destroyed it. Since the fungus is in the soil, it will never be an apple orchard again. They were selling 2 acre house lots for $40k 20 years ago. As far as I know, they only have 4 sold in the 20 years since the fungus struck, but I think those 4 people bought up the remainder of the orchard that was put up for sale. One of the purchasers was a horse grower/raiser and doctor of physical therapy from Westchester NY who now raises million dollar clydsdales. He purchased the majority of the property next to my families property. I miss the apple trees. Horse apples aren't as yummy.

How much was the difference between what they offered for your trade, vs what the dealer gave you?
Exactly right. Carvana makes most of their money from their fees and interest rates that draw in people that may not have good credit. People with bad credit will often times purchase something at a higher price, because they know they don't have a good chance of approval at most places. Carvana will be recycling vehicles before long (sell it, payments not made, repossess it, sell it again, repeat).

Even Dealerships sometimes will lose money on the actual costs of a vehicle, because they can make it up with the financing points, extended warranty and bonuses for making their quota for the month, quarter or year. I have seen that first hand. Carvana is a seller's market as far as I am concerned.

They gave me a little over 33,000 for the Jeep. Yes, lower than Carvana but in the end it roughly came out about the same price wise, since the price for the new one was roughly $1,000.00 cheaper that the used.

On a whim I contacted dealer where I bought my 2020 XLT FX4 (Lexington, KY) to see if they'd match Carvana. I was shocked when they said yes...they matched Carvana's price sight unseen. When I arrived at dealership I was able to get them to offer $700 above Carvana cause truck was like brand new. Still can't believe they offered so much. They now have it priced on their website for 1K over original sticker and 3K over what they paid me. Absolutely crazy!

I just sold my 2019 XLT with 16,500 miles for $29,800 to Carmax. It had a major collision costing $10,000 to repair due to a deer strike. I probably could have gotten more had it not been for the collision, so I was happy to get close to $30k for it. Caravana’s last offer was $26,700. I paid $34,500 when I bought it in January 2019, it was the second new Ranger the dealership had sold when these started arriving for sale.

I documented elsewhere that I traded in my 19 ranger. I figured the dealer would just buy it and ship it off somewhere. They paid me 34k for it. They listed it for 34,900 and had it sold in less than a week. They didn't even detail it or fix the tire rock chips before the listing. Market is absolutely insane. I'm considering shopping my mustang too.
