I haven't quite decided on how much of a lift I want to run or which wheel/tire combo I want to go with.

I'm currently thinking I want to run 33's and a 3.5 inch lift.

Does anyone know what the biggest tire size is that will still fit in the stock spare tire location?

Thanks in advance,
Coby

I currently have a 32" spare, and there's quite a bit of room around it. you shouldn't have any issues

I recently fit a 285/70r17 Duratrac on the stock steelie in the spare location on a friend's truck. Fits in with just a touch of wiggling. And yes he knows that won't fit the front in the case of a flat.

I have a 255/80R17 Nitto Ridge Grappler mounted on a OEM 17” rim under there. It appears to be the biggest you can fit. A34” might but it would be tight. See below.
All mounted up and under the truck. 17" factory rim with Nitto Ridge Grappler 255/80R17 tire. Factory spare compared to new spare in first pic.
I think a 34" tire might fit under there considering the Nitto is a hair over 33". No way a 35" fits I don't think.

Was under my ranger yesterday put on the Bilstein 5100s... and of course the spare tire is right there... looked at the size... 265/65R17... huuummm That's ~30.5" in diameter.

My winter set is the 275/60R18s which are also 31.0 (went from the OEM 265/60R18 All Season to slightly bigger Blizzaks).
Summers are the 275/55R20 at 31.9".

If a flat does occur, the 17" spare is not ideal for very far. Yes, put it on the front and don't use 4x4.

All this begs the question: What is the largest diameter that will fit in the spare tire storage area under the bed??

Looks like MAYBE 1" bigger would still fit, not sure. Anyone tested this issue?? Advise appreciated.

Another member on here reported a 285/70-17 in their under bed spare carrier, which is 32.7 inches.

Thanks for the updates!! Think I will get a 18" wheel and put another Blizzak on it... not sure I will go so far as get another 20", but nice to know it would fit!

PS: After I got the 5100's installed, I dropped the spare to install the Ford Performance diff cover. While the spare was out, I weight it. 67 lbs. That was a little surprising. Afraid to see what the 20" ers will weight.
