When I visit them next week I will ask them on the details. Other than that I honestly have no idea but I can say that this is built for off-road from Australia and has already been proven very well for the diesel Rangers out there. Chances are it will be just fine out hereJust out of curiosity, per one of the other thread on this, are they planning on doing any safety/crash testing with this new tank to make sure it doesn't rupture?
You are correct that I am in the United States. The company that built the tank is out of Australia primarily. They have a branch out here in the states in Boise Idaho. I'm going to be headed up there on the 24th and the install will happen on the 25th or 26th. To say the least I'm very excited about this. I'm actually the one who helped get things going for the bigger tank as I contacted so many companies here in the United States and most of them said there was no market for it. I believe they just didn't want to do itWho’s installing it for you? Are you in the United States?
Please keep up updated, on costs and how everything goes. I will jump on this right away as soon I have the money and the time to drive out there. The company is long-range America. They already have it listed on their site. Also they have a test tank right now waiting for me at their facility in Boise Idaho. Did you also deliver it through this shop? Or did you have it delivered to your house?
I used PVC pipe pieces for baffles. I filled it with water and drained it. I will have just over 47 gallons of diesel fuel when filled. Will save a lot of time this spring and fall.Just for the heck of it a tank made to butt up against front of bed that measures 58”W 18”H 10”D would hold 45 gallons. This also places the weight central on the frame. That’s 377lbs plus add the weight of the tank.
that’s a box tank. Easy to fab out of diamond plate. Need a few baffles to control slosh. Could even pipe it into trucks tank.
If you pipe the bed tank into the stock tank what is keeping the fuel from coming out of the stock filler neck which is lower than the added bed tank? Also I think it's illegal and you must have a fuel pump in the bed tank plumbed into the fuel system.Just for the heck of it a tank made to butt up against front of bed that measures 58”W 18”H 10”D would hold 45 gallons. Transfer tanks are not illegal. With an electric pump, hand siphon pump or no pump at all. You can plumb them into your factory system or they can be stand alone..If you pipe the bed tank into the stock tank what is keeping the fuel from coming out of the stock filler neck which is lower than the added bed tank? I think you misunderstood what I wrote so I'll try to be clearer. I didn't state transfer tanks were illegal what I meant was plumbing a transfer tank directly into the stock tank is likely not DOT legal. Notice I wrote....must have a fuel pump plumbed into the fuel system. Of course you could just use it as a jerry can but that means you have to stop to transfer the fuel.Transfer tanks are not illegal. With an electric pump, hand siphon pump or no pump at all. Is it illegal to carry Jerry cans in your neck of the woods? Same thing.
